Elder Shawn M. Nicholson is the son of Bishop Maurice Nicholson and First Lady Orelia Nicholson. He was born on April 22, 1972 in Hackensack NJ. In 1980, he along with his family moved to Richmond, VA, following a vision the Lord had given to his father, Elder Maurice Nicholson. The vision was to start a new ministry in Richmond, and so the speaker became one of the charter members of Future Church of Christ (Holiness), USA.
At the age of 10, the Elder Shawn M. Nicholson began to be eagerly involved with music, under the tutelage of Elder J.L. Moore Sr., Pastor and Founder of the Tower Deliverance Ministries C.O.G.I.C., in Richmond, Virginia. Since that time, God has anointed him and favored him with the gift to play, write and teach music. He served as the Minister of Music of his father’s church for 10 years and 4 years in the same position with the Eastern Diocese of the Church of Christ (Hol.), USA. Elder Nicholson was received Christ at an early age, but during his teenage years he strayed away not realizing he was in fact running away from a calling on his life.
Fortunately, the Lord would not let him get away, and in January 1996, at the age of 24; Elder Nicholson surrendered and committed his life totally to God. In April of 1998, he publicly announced his acceptance of the call to preach the Gospel. In June of 2002, he was ordained as an Elder in the Church of Christ (Holiness), USA. Elder Nicholson has not wavered in his commitment to the Lord. He has exhibited significant spiritual growth as he has striven to live a life that glorifies God and that is an example for others to follow.
In addition to his Minister of Music role, Elder Nicholson has served as a substitute Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader at Future Church for more than 10 years. He served as the Sunday School and HYM President for the Eastern Diocese Church of Christ (Hol.), USA, for 9 years and was an active participant in the National Music Workshop for the C.O.C.H.U.S.A. Elder Nicholson is also the founder of PK Ministries, an outreach ministry design to encourage, uplift and offer deliverance to the body of Christ, as it relates to preacher’s kids and children of leadership. Elder Nicholson is also the founder and planter of Beautiful Temple Church of Christ (Hol.), USA.
Elder Nicholson is an entrepreneur in his own right and has established, owned and operated several companies for over 12 years. Currently he is the president of Precise Business Group, Inc. Not only does he apply himself in the world of business and entrepreneurship, but in Biblical application. He has studied at the Fredericksburg Bible Institute and the Richmond Virginia Seminary. Elder Nicholson paused from his studies in 2007 to plant Beautiful Temple Church and now he is currently a student at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, working to complete his Bachelor of Science in Psychology with concentration in Christian Counseling.
God has graciously blessed him with a loving, supportive and faithful wife, Karen, who has been a very significant part of his life and spiritual development. They have been married for 16 years. God has also blessed them with two wonderful children, Ajarah Marie and Shanyce Michelle. In all of his achievements and accomplishments, as well as his failures and shortcomings, and gives all praise and glory to God, who has brought him such a long way, and who is his complete source of strength for the journey that lies ahead.
