In a recent article, Professor Peter Dreier appropriated Martin Luther King Jr. as champion of the “liberal” side of several raging public debates. Having been inspired from childhood by the justice of King’s struggle for racial equality and the effective and eloquent way in which he pursued his “Dream,” I find Dreier’s conclusions surprising and counter-intuitive. I reject the assumption that this giant of a man can be so neatly categorized.
The organization GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) proudly states on the main page of their website that they are "changing culture by working directly with news media, entertainment media, cultural institutions and social media". When Phil Robertson quoted God's Word and expressed his personal opinions regarding homosexuality in a GQ article, GLAAD threw a hissy fit and scared A & E into suspending Phil indefinitely.
There are holes or pores in condoms that are LARGER than the germs and viruses of various STDs including Hepatitis B, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

“As I sat there on the pew of the Baptist church in Norfolk, Virginia, I yearned to be free from homosexuality. I had reached the end of my rope. The weight upon my shoulders was so heavy. I needed an escape and I needed it now!
Could this Jesus I had learned about as a child in Sunday school help me? Was He real? Was He the same as the one described in the Bible? Could I be free from homosexuality or was it too big for even Him?
First a disclaimer. As suggested by the title of this post, the only thing that "qualifies" me to be blogging on this topic is the fact that I was once dismissive of the virtue of modesty, but have since examined my former thoughts and attitudes on the subject and found them wanting.
A number of the online comments to my Op-Ed on The Tilted Kilt raised a great point: what is the difference between patronizing the TK, where busty waitresses wear bikini tops, and going to the beach or pool, where lots of women wear bikinis?
The recent rulings removed all doubt, if there ever was any, that the Supreme Court is solidly pro-homosexual as well as its existing record of being pro-abortion. The rulings against DOMA and in favor of homosexual marriages, soon will filter down to all states, through dozens of local court cases. Gays will not only be given equality in marriage, they have already been granted a special status through our hate crime laws.
If you follow my blog, you know that quite a controversy has been stirred up in Harrisonburg about the opening of "The Tilted Kilt" here in town. A couple of weeks ago, following on the heels of two separate Op-Eds raising a variety of concerns about the business, an ad appeared on the back page of the newspaper. It stated:
If you read my last post about The Tilted Kilt, which was published by the Daily News Record, you won't be surprised that I've been receiving some online comments about it and about the interview I did with our local television station. Now I am certainly no stranger to the feeding frenzy that is the online comment venue. But I must say that I was a bit taken aback by some of the commentary on this particular issue.
I was slightly less disturbed by the Boy Scouts of America's new membership policy after reading it in the context of its preamble. While the new policy specifies that no youth may be denied membership because of sexual orientation or preference alone, the preamble insists that: "Scouting is a youth program, and any sexual conduct, whether homosexual or heterosexual, by youth of Scouting age is contrary to the virtues of Scouting."
NBA veteran Jason Collins' decided to come out as an open homosexual this week, making him the first active openly gay athlete on any major U.S. team. I am a lifelong lover of all things basketball, but to be honest I don't really care to know about this man's sexual preferences. That is not really the point, though...this is about forcing everyone to accept and embrace homosexuality regardless of their religious beliefs.
The Tilted Kilt has grown out of our society's persistent lack of genuine respect for women, its failure to appreciate real (but much more costly) intimacy, and its lack of concern for the well being of others. ... Being employed at this kind of restaurant is a subtle form of prostitution...
A new Tilted Kilt restaurant opened yesterday in the Valley Mall despite repeated appeals to Mall Management and to Kilt representatives to either drop its plans or provide its female waitresses with more appropriate uniforms that are consistent with Valley standards of decency.

In light of the Supreme Court hand-picking the issue of homosexual marriage this week – an issue that has been settled by our Creator, the laws of our republic and the righteous compliance of the American people – I thought it was important to ask where the American people are deriving the belief that radical homosexual marriage is accepted by a majority of our citizens.
The freedom of Americans to run their businesses according to the dictates of their consciences is being challenged, coast to coast, by President Obama’s Department of Justice and local governing bodies. The common instigators are laws against sexual orientation discrimination and Health & Human Services’ contraceptive and abortifacient mandate.
