.MARKUS SCHMIDT of the Richmond Times-Dispatch covered last week's Clergy and Christian Leaders Summit hosted by the Virginia Christian Alliance to unite God's faithful to stand up and defend the institution of marriage, which God established as between one man and one woman in the Holy Scriptures.
Since Virginia Attorney General Herring's refusal to defend Virginia's Constitution, and supported by words from US Attorney General Eric Holder; the battle lines have been drawn. Should Christians not rise to the call, the battle outcome looks bleak for what God has established which is being usurped by rebellious political leaders.
Letter to the Editor, Richmond Times Dispatch, February 10, 2014
On September 15, 2013 in his Metro column, Jeff Schapiro wrote about the looming "plot" by the Democratic Party to legalize same-sex marriage in Virginia. With amazing accuracy his forecasts are largely playing out at this moment.
What he didn't predict was the propaganda that would be disseminated by the Richmond Times Dispatch own Bart Hinkle. His repeated advocacy efforts for homosexual marriage are mostly dependent on questionable surveys, social engineering, and pressure politics. Hinkle's recent Op/Ed column was no exception.
Oneness in marriage is God’s design and it is His calling to us despite our conflicts and difficulties in the marriage.
Genesis 2:24 (NAS)
A man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife;
and they shall become one flesh.
The issue here is things like, “Why will I do what it takes to make my spouse happy?” Or, “How can we have a genuine ‘oneness’ despite our difficulties?” How in the world can we have genuine oneness?
As a Virginian and an attorney, I am alarmed by the violence you have done to the integrity of the legal profession and to the institution of marriage by pitting the authority of your office directly against Virginia’s Constitution.
As your office’s website explains, it is your duty to serve as “the Commonwealth’s law firm.” Every attorney has a duty to zealously advocate his client’s position in court, and while there are limited circumstances in which he may be permitted to withdraw from representation, it would be inconceivable for him to then actively participate in the case being made against his client. In submitting a brief that argues that Virginia’s Marriage Amendment is illegal, this is, effectively, what you have done. And for no good reason.
Stable Marriage is Critical
It One of God’s Primary Designs and Callings
It is One of the Influences on Culture
It is One of the Influences of God’s Kingdom
We tend to view marriage as a form of personal pleasure and happiness. We fall in love with someone and we have the sincere feelings of love, and that leads us to marriage. But once we are married, over time the feelings of love are less consistent and harder to maintain.
Published in the Roanoke Times As Virginia’s Marriage Amendment comes under attack both in the courts and the legislature, Virginians should be critically examining the question of why the state regulates marriage and whether its definition should be stretched to encompass committed same-sex couples. Having done that, we should consider what our answers mean for all marriages.
a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife;
and they shall become one flesh.
And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
VCA has contacted Governor McDonnell to speak out about the potential use of state funds to provide marital benefits to same-sex couples in the Virginia National Guard who are legally married in other states.
Secretary of Defense Hagel recently announced that, as a result of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the Department of Defense would provide marital benefits to same-sex couples who are legally married.
In a former article we looked at the idea that marriage is God’s design. A biblical perspective is that marriage is critical in two basic ways:
The Supreme Court of the United States' decisions yesterday to overturn a key provision of DOMA and to effectively kill Proposition 8 in California are profoundly disappointing to everyone who believes in marriage as only between one man and one woman, who seeks to live by Biblical teachings, and who respects our Constitutional principles and form of government.

Virginians, your children and parental rights are at stake in this November’s election. It’s an election in which you’ll determine if parental rights will be protected or destroyed and the Senate is where it will happen.
The leftist liberal agenda in our country is vividly on display and illustrates their extreme hypocrisy when it comes to that word "tolerance" and "freedom of speech". As long as you agree with their viewpoint on certain issues, they leave us alone.
They will "tolerate" us.
As soon as we disagree with them, such as the homosexual agenda or sanctity of life, they become the "intolerant" and they will disrupt our freedom of assembly and free speech.
Victoria Cobb of the Family Foundation here in Richmond, Va., experienced this as she spoke to a crowd outside their offices.
