Virginians, your children and parental rights are at stake in this November’s election. It’s an election in which you’ll determine if parental rights will be protected or destroyed and the Senate is where it will happen.
The winner, George Allen or Tim Kaine, will set the course for the future on these issues: Will he support the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which will secure these rights as fundamental and will he oppose ratification of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child Treaty which with the stroke of a Presidential pen and two-thirds of the U.S. Senate would forever destroy parental rights?
Intuitively, one might think that every Senator would want parental rights protected, but history shows this is not the case. There are far too many Senators who believe in one-world government thinking. This statement may sound extreme, but the facts stack up to support it.
Beginning during the Clinton administration with Hillary Clinton at the helm, Progressive Socialists have pushed for ratification of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child Treaty. It goes part and parcel with big government thinking. This altruistic sounding treaty would automatically override almost all American laws on children and families because of the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause in Article VI. Ratification would allow a U.N. Geneva-based committee of 18 “experts” from other nations to issue official interpretations of the Treaty which are entitled to binding weight in American courts and legislatures. In effect, what is “in the best interest of children” will be determined by a United Nations’ committee. If in doubt, visit www.parentalrights.org and read how this treaty has affected parental rights in other nations including Great Britain, Sweden, and Japan. It is shocking to say the least.
For months, thousands of Virginians have been calling Senator Webb and Senator Warner asking them to sign on as co-sponsors to the Parental Rights Amendment and they haven’t budged. As Virginia Senators, they should have led in the Senate showing bi-partisan support for the Amendment and opposition to the Treaty. Their response, though, was silence, which speaks louder than a baby’s cry.
With dismay, I report that out of the 97 Senators and Representatives who have co-sponsored the Amendment, all of them are Republican. In the House of Representatives, 8 out of 11 Virginia Congressmen have co-sponsored or pledged support for the amendment. The 8 are Republican. George Allen has pledged and repeatedly spoken about his support for the Parental Rights Amendment, as well as his 100% opposition to the UNCRC Treaty. Tim Kaine is silent, very silent, just like Webb and Warner. President Obama is in full support with Hillary Clinton still at the Socialist helm.
There is a pattern and it is undeniable. I fear that partisan politics will sell our children out to the Progressive Socialists or more appropriately identified as Marxists. Isn’t it time to protect the American family and not political parties or politicians? Isn’t it time to vote values?
