The Prince of Peace

Jesus began His ministry proclaiming “the Kingdom of God is at hand” (Mark 1:15). Three decades prior to this, the King of the Kingdom came to earth in human form. At Christmas we celebrate the incarnation – the coming of the eternal, omnipotent King.

Paul defines the Kingdom of God as “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17). Jesus instructed us to seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, and as we do, many other things (like peace, prosperity, and joy) will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). When God’s Kingdom comes – when we submit to His government and apply His righteous standard to our lives – we will lead a peaceful and blessed life. Life without the King is restless and miserable. This peace resides chiefly within our hearts and minds, and is available even under the worst conditions.

Christ, who is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), gives us peace. When the angel announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds he proclaimed, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14). Jesus tells us, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you” (John 14:27), and “Peace to you” (John 20:29, 21, 26).

Christ’s incarnation is the most amazing event in history. God came into the world as a man, Jesus Christ, to redeem mankind and restore all things. The Bible – God’s Word – tells us about the God who made the universe and everything in it, including our planet earth, and then visited it to provide a way for man to get to heaven, to be a part of His family, and to show man how he may share in God’s kingdom and assist in bringing it to earth.

One point of evidence of Christ’s divinity, as well as the divine origin of the Bible, is fulfilled prophecy. In Luke 24:24-27, Jesus claimed Himself to be the subject of prophecy all through the Old Testament. He said Scripture must be fulfilled (Matt. 13:14; Luke 21:22, John 13:18). He claimed His own words were inspired (Mark 13:31, John 6:63). In John 10:35 He said Scripture cannot be broken. His own claims to Divine origin and the claims of the Bible stand or fall together. If He cannot be proved a liar or a lunatic, the Bible is God’s Word.

For those who voted for Clinton all is not lost!

Trump is affirming a key Democratic issue- homosexuality. Apparently homosexual activity, marriage, military service, indoctrination of children and other gender confusions are safe under Trump’s administration.

The key Democratic issue of abortion could be in danger if Roe vs. Wade is reversed. However Trump says women could still get abortions by traveling to States that would continue to allow them. Also we wonder about Trump’s friendship with Planned Parenthood, the Nation’s largest abortion business. Will he still continue the taxpayers’ annual love offering of over $500 million to them? Will he try to stop the sale of baby parts for a profit?

We’ve Received a Reprieve

Something wonderful happened this last election. The American people rose up and elected a leader rejecting both party’s establishment. While I’ve had concerns about some of what Donald Trump has said, I agree with his sentiment that our government has become corrupt and needs a restoration of the balance of powers. I’m willing to give him a chance and see if he can right the ship. His cabinet and advisory picks so far have been impressive. Impressive primarily for their moral character and what they’ve stood for, and most also have expertise in the areas they would serve. They most assuredly have the heart for the challenge ahead.

But the Democratic party has not yet heard the call. Like all good elitist, the problem wasn’t their message. They just didn’t communicate their message well enough. People were not committed enough. They didn’t spend enough money in the right places. They weren’t organized well enough. They were betrayed, by some of their constituent groups and the media. The list goes on and on. No worries though. Our soon to be former President will take up residence in DC, with the purpose of continuing to communicate their message. Considering Mr. Ellison for DNC chair, the reelection of Ms. Pelosi, and recent statements by her only confirm that party’s unwavering commitment to the present course, and taking it even further to the left.

Revisionist Thanksgiving

One great factor in the secularization and decline of America is the teaching of revisionist history in our schools. As an example of this, a friend recently wrote me that two American Indian history teachers at Minnesota State University told him that Thanksgiving was the celebration of the massacred 600 Pequot Indians in colonial New England.

Wanting to learn more of why they thought this, my friend found an article that seemed to detail their beliefs, in which is stated:

Ironically, the first official “Day of Thanksgiving” was proclaimed in 1637 by Massachusetts Governor John Winthrop. He did so to celebrate the safe return of English colony men from Mystic, Connecticut. They massacred 600 Pequots that had laid down their weapons and accepted Christianity. They were rewarded with a vicious and cowardly slaughter by their new “brothers in Christ.”[1]

Innumerable blessings have been bestowed upon the United States of America. Concerning these blessings President Lincoln wrote: “No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God.” President Lincoln went on to set apart the last Thursday of November as “a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.”1

 While President Lincoln established America’s official Thanksgiving holiday in 1863, it was the Pilgrims who first celebrated a day of Thanksgiving in this land in 1621 and who set an example that many followed in the succeeding years.2

If our Founders were to return today what would they find? They would find that we have lost much of the Republic they gave to us. They would find a people who have turned their back on God the Creator and turned to god the government. They would find a nation no longer governed by We The People but a nation governed by we the courts, we the elite, we big business, and by we the unelected bureaucracy.

Conservative Christians and Pastors Hold Consistent Views on Key Issues and Candidate Preference

The commentary that made the rounds during and after the Republican National Convention is that Republicans are locked in an internal battle, hopelessly divided over the issues and the party’s presidential candidate. However, a pair of national surveys conducted by the American Culture and Faith Institute – one of them among theologically conservative Protestant pastors and the other among conservative Christians – indicates that these two segments, which are crucial to GOP hopes for a November victory, are generally in synch in terms of their support for the top-of-the-ticket candidate and regarding which issues matter the most this year.

Trump is Their Choice

While the mainstream media generates endless controversy around the candidacy of Donald Trump, the reality is that a huge majority of conservative Christian voters and theologically conservative pastors are throwing their support Trump’s way. Among SAGE Cons – the spiritually active, governance engaged conservative individuals surveyed – 76% currently plan to vote for Mr. Trump. Less than 1% expects to support Mrs. Clinton. Among the theologically conservative Protestant pastors interviewed, a similar proportion – 70% – said they would vote for Mr. Trump. Only 2% plan to vote for Mrs. Clinton.

Trump, Carson, Cruz: Champion Material?

In times of great peril, God raises a champion to provide a spark, or to lead a nation through the destructive "winter era" back to safety and the start of a new social order. This occurs every 80 to 100 years. We are in such a dark, destructive phase again, as outsiders Trump, Carson, and Cruz, storm the gates of American politics. They have battled Republican and Democrat insiders; media elites in NY and DC; and now they battle each other. – We have been here before.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. –Ecclesiastes 3:1

We all love "springtime America." Certainly all of the presidential candidates are promising a "blossoming" 2017 – if only we elect them. If our nation survives the "winter era," only then can it enter the “springtime era,” or as authors Neil Howe and William Strauss write in The Fourth Turning:
