Democrats Force Christians to Pay for Organizations That Destroy God’s Created Order
In my recent article Virginia’s Perfect Storm: How One-Party Rule Threatens Life, Liberty, and Law Enforcement, I warned that Democrats are building a coordinated system to enshrine abortion through birth (HJ1), eliminate biblical marriage (HJ3), and fundamentally reshape Virginia. Now they’ve revealed how they’ll pay for it: Virginia House Bill 1245, sponsored by Del. Rozia Henson (D-Fairfax), creates taxpayer-funded grants to healthcare providers serving LGBTQ+ and pregnant populations—restoring funding to organizations like Planned Parenthood and gender clinics that lost support under Republican administrations.

This isn’t just bad policy. This is the government forcing Christians to materially cooperate with evil—to pay for organizations that destroy God’s created order.
And your pastor is probably silent about it.
What Virginia HB1245 Actually Does
HB1245 expands the Virginia Health Care Fund to provide taxpayer-funded grants for healthcare services to “populations protected by the Virginia Human Rights Act.” That sounds benign until you understand what it actually means.
The Virginia Human Rights Act protects people based on:
Race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, military status, and disability.
Virginia HB1245 uses this framework to funnel taxpayer money to:
- Healthcare entities serving “protected populations” (LGBTQ+ advocates, abortion providers)
The bill specifically funds organizations that “lost funding from state, local, or federal sources.” Translation: Organizations like Planned Parenthood and gender clinics that lost taxpayer support under Republican administrations now get Virginia state funding. Your tax dollars restore what federal defunding removed.
- “Culturally competent care” training for medical professionals
This is code for indoctrinating doctors, nurses, and counselors into gender ideology. “Culturally competent care” means affirming gender confusion as healthy, prescribing puberty blockers to children, and celebrating surgical mutilation as “gender-affirming care.”
- Mobile clinics and “innovative” healthcare delivery
Mobile clinics reaching underserved populations—expanding access to abortion and gender-affirming services. Virginia HB1245 funds these operations under the guise of “meeting population needs.”
- Training medical residents to provide “protected population” services
Your tax dollars will fund providers serving protected populations, which may include organizations offering abortion and gender transition services. The bill funds training programs that teach the next generation of healthcare workers to affirm what Scripture calls sin.
- Grants distributed by a board “representative of protected populations”
The Commissioner of Health will appoint a grant board that must represent “populations protected by the Virginia Human Rights Act.” This ensures LGBTQ+ activists and abortion advocates control where your money goes.
And here’s the kicker: Virginia HB1245 bans grants to conversion therapy providers—consistent with Virginia’s existing minor protections—ensuring state funds affirm gender ideology while denying support to biblical counseling approaches. The bill explicitly prohibits funding for any practice attempting to help someone embrace biblical sexuality.
But here’s what makes this truly diabolical: HB1245 attacks God’s created order at its foundation.
Democrats Attack BOTH Pillars of God’s Created Order
Genesis 1:27 establishes the foundation of human existence: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
God’s created order rests on two unshakable pillars:
Pillar 1: LIFE – Humans bear God’s image from conception to natural death
Pillar 2: MALE AND FEMALE – God created humanity as a binary reflecting His image
As I documented in Virginia’s Perfect Storm, Democrats are systematically attacking both pillars. Virginia HB1245 is the financial engine that powers this rebellion:
Attack on LIFE:
- HJ1 (abortion through birth) = Kill image-bearers at life’s beginning
- SB359 (physician-assisted suicide) = Kill image-bearers at life’s end
- HB1245 = FUND IT ALL with taxpayer money
Attack on MALE AND FEMALE:
- HJ3 (marriage amendment) = Eliminate legal recognition of God’s binary design
- “Gender identity” protections = Deny Creator’s design, call it discrimination to recognize biological reality
- Gender transition organizations = Mutilate the image of God
- Cross-sex hormone providers = Chemical rebellion against biology
- HB1245 = FORCE CHRISTIANS TO PAY FOR IT
Genesis 2:21-22 describes God’s intentional creation of Eve from Adam’s rib, establishing the complementary binary of male and female. Deuteronomy 22:5 forbids cross-dressing and gender confusion. Romans 1:26-27 calls homosexual practice “unnatural” and “shameful.”
Virginia HB1245 forces you to fund organizations that call God’s design oppressive and celebrate what He calls abomination.
Now, let me address the elephant in the room: Why are pastors silent about this?
Dear Pastor: Your Silence Makes You Complicit
If you’re a Virginia pastor and you haven’t preached on God’s created order—on the sanctity of male and female, on the abomination of gender confusion, on the duty to resist government-mandated funding of evil—let me ask: Why not?
Your congregation includes parents whose children are being taught in public schools that gender is fluid. Teenagers who are told by counselors that if they feel uncomfortable in their bodies, they might be transgender. Young adults indoctrinated to celebrate Pride Month and call biblical sexuality “hate.”
And you’ve said nothing.
Virginia HB1245 will force your congregants to fund organizations providing gender transition services for confused teenagers. To pay for clinics offering hormone blockers that chemically castrate children. To support abortion providers that kill image-bearers.
And you’ve equipped them with nothing.
But here comes the counterargument, and we need to address it honestly:
“What about compassion for LGBTQ+ people? What about their suffering? Shouldn’t we show love by affirming their identities?”
Let me steel-man this argument: People experiencing gender dysphoria genuinely suffer. Depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation are real. Many advocates believe gender transition alleviates this suffering and that opposing it is cruel.
I acknowledge this emotional reality. The suffering is real.
But here’s why the “compassion” argument fails:
First, affirming delusion is not compassionate. If an anorexic girl believes she’s fat, we don’t affirm that delusion by helping her starve. If a man believes he’s Napoleon, we don’t give him an army. When someone believes they’re the opposite sex, the loving response is truth—not surgical mutilation.
Second, gender transition does not reduce suicide rates. Studies show transgender individuals have the same elevated suicide rates post-transition as pre-transition. Sweden’s landmark study (largest, longest follow-up) found transition surgery increased suicide risk. We’re celebrating destruction and calling it care.
Third, children cannot consent to irreversible harm. Puberty blockers cause permanent damage: sterility, stunted growth, bone density loss. Virginia HB1245 funds organizations providing this abuse. Europe is abandoning pediatric transition because the evidence shows harm—but Virginia is doubling down.
Fourth, biology is reality. No amount of surgery, hormones, or pronouns changes chromosomes. A man who identifies as a woman is still a man. A woman who removes her breasts is still a woman. God created male and female—and no legislative act can change that.
Finally, the Bible is clear. Romans 1:25 describes those who “exchanged the truth of God for a lie.” Gender ideology is exactly this—calling God’s binary design oppressive and celebrating rebellion as authentic identity. This is not love. This is embracing destruction.
As I wrote in my series on The Pulpit Is Responsible, pastoral silence is not neutrality. It’s complicity. Your people need to hear biblical truth about God’s created order before the state forces them to fund its destruction.
Fortunately, there’s still time to act. Here’s what you can do right now.
What You Can Do RIGHT NOW
Here’s the good news: Virginia HB1245 was just prefiled on January 14, 2026, and committee assignment is still pending. This is a fight you can win if you engage NOW.
First, contact your state delegate immediately.
Find your delegate: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
Call their office. Email them. Say this:
“I am your constituent and a Christian who believes God created male and female in His image. HB1245 forces Virginia taxpayers to fund organizations providing gender-affirming care and abortion services. This violates liberty of conscience and forces Christians to materially cooperate with evil. Genesis 1:27 declares God made us male and female. I will not fund organizations that destroy God’s created order. Vote NO on HB1245.”
Second, demand your pastor address this from the pulpit.
Email this article to your pastor. Ask him to preach on Genesis 1:27 and God’s created order this Sunday. If he refuses, ask him why defending male and female isn’t worth his prophetic voice.
Third, mobilize your church.
Print copies of this article. Share it on social media. Host a prayer meeting focused on Virginia’s assault on God’s created order. Organize your small group to contact legislators together.
Fourth, prepare for civil disobedience.
When Virginia HB1245 passes, Virginia Christians will face a choice: pay taxes that fund organizations destroying God’s created order, or obey God. Acts 5:29 is clear: “We must obey God rather than human beings.” Start thinking now about what faithful resistance looks like. Finally, understand the stakes.
Virginia HB1245 isn’t just bad policy. It’s a government mandate to fund organizations that rebel against God’s created order. This crosses the line from permitting sin to forcing Christians to pay for it.
But beyond tactics, understand the deeper reality: This is spiritual warfare.
This Is Spiritual Warfare
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
This isn’t Democrats vs. Republicans. This is the enemy’s coordinated effort to destroy both pillars of God’s created order—LIFE and MALE AND FEMALE. Satan hates the image of God. Every abortion, every gender transition, every attack on biblical sexuality is an assault on the Creator Himself.
Virginia HB1245 forces Christians to fund this rebellion. The state wants to make you an accomplice.
Yet we serve the God who laughs at earthly rulers (Psalm 2:4), who works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28), and whose kingdom will never end (Revelation 11:15).
You are not helpless. You are equipped by the Holy Spirit, grounded in Scripture, and called to this moment.
The question is not whether Virginia will force you to fund organizations destroying God’s created order. The question is whether you will obey God or the state when they conflict.
Pick up the phone. Email your delegate. Confront your pastor. Mobilize your church.
And prepare to say NO.
