Virginia Students for Life- Statement of Agreement

We firmly believe that life begins at conception, that from the point of conception the life in the womb of a mother is that of a human being, and that the ending of a life by abortion is the taking of the life of a human being.  We further believe that our Constitution clearly states that the life of every human being in our nation is protected under the statement that our Creator has endowed each of us certain inalienable rights, the first of these being the right to life – the right to not have our life ended by another except for reason of punishment for the taking of the life of another.

We also believe that abortion is probably the greatest and most serious sin accepted, tolerated and promoted by our culture and our nation, and that we must address this for what it is, that eventually and surely God's judgment must fall on our nation and people if we continue in this national sin.

We hereby pledge our commitment to promote the sanctity of human life from conception and the truth that abortion is a grievous sin.  We also will personally be supportive of all legal efforts to end the legalization of abortion in our nation, and to, when possible, communicate our beliefs to others so that others may come to understand abortion for what it really is:  the taking of a human life.

Virginia Lawyers for Life - Statement of Agreement

We believe that the right to life is inalienable, bestowed upon each human being by the Creator and predating the institution of government. We believe that from the time of conception, each human being is fully human, and entitled to the basic protections that governments were instituted to provide.  We reject the notion that any government may legitimately sanction the intentional destruction of legally innocent human beings, regardless of said human beings’ state of development or any conditions of disability or dependency.

We object to the premise that the legal concept of personhood may justly exclude certain human beings, and to the conclusion of the United States Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade that an unborn human being is not a “person” entitled to the protections of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.  Recognizing, however, that we cannot force the High Court to overrule this holding, we determine to work toward laws that will (1) recognize unborn children as legal persons under state constitutions, thus providing an independent foundation of civil rights for all human beings; (2) limit abortions to the extent permitted under existing Supreme Court jurisprudence; (3) prevent unwilling taxpayers from being forced to fund abortions; (4) ensure that women considering abortion are provided any and all information that will assist them in making a truly informed choice; and (5) ensure that abortion clinics and providers are subject to appropriate regulations for the true protection of women’s health.

Virginia Nurses for Life- Statement of Agreement

We affirm the humanity of the pre-born baby from fertilization to birth. Our mission is to assist in the safe delivery of the baby and insure the life of the mother. We believe that God wants us to defend all life and specifically the helpless since society and the courts have declared them non-persons and therefore not protected under our Constitution.

As Nurses responsible for the care of the mother and her unborn baby, we oppose abortion, it being the willful destruction of an innocent human being and we pledge not to be involved in the procedure nor make a referral for an abortion. We reject elective abortion as being a 'standard of care for unwanted pregnancies'. We further pledge to support and promote life affirming alternative solutions for mothers with difficult pregnancies.

In addition to the elective death of the baby, we believe that abortion has profound, adverse effects that impact the mother that includes higher risk for suicide, accidents and homicides. Also there are significant higher risks of mental health disorders including anxiety, mood disorders and substance abuse. There are also negative impacts on the father, the extended family and society at large as evidenced by our violent culture. When life is devalued in the family, it is inevitably devalued in society at large.

We believe abortion clearly shows the degree of moral bankruptcy in America. We believe Christians are the main, but not the only ones, who can change the abortion culture in Virginia. Generally Christians will only move when educated and led by their Pastors. We will encourage Pastors to proclaim that human life should be protected and that abortion is the killing of human life. We reject the Supreme Court ruling that children in the womb need not be protected, and we reject the idea that women should have the choice to kill their child.

Virginia Pastors for Life- Statement of Agreement

"We affirm the humanity of the pre-born baby from fertilization to birth and we believe that God wants us to defend the helpless. We therefore oppose abortion and will promote the sanctity of human life. We will also support girls and women in crisis pregnancy with medical and material help and spiritual counseling."
