(LifeSiteNews) – In a historic decision Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of nationwide abortion-on-demand and once again allowing states to protect unborn life as early as the moment of conception.
As of Tuesday, at least seven states have effectively eliminated abortion within their borders for the first time in decades, while several more have significantly restricted the barbaric practice, and up to 10 are set to ban it in the coming days and weeks following the Court’s landmark ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
UPDATES – Tuesday, June 28:
- Tennessee’s heartbeat law banning abortion at around six weeks of pregnancy has now taken effect.
- A Texas judge temporarily blocked a pre-Roe law that bans abortion from conception, though it is unclear whether it applies to all abortion clinics in the state. Attorney General Ken Paxton has vowed to appeal. Texas’ heartbeat law remains in effect, prohibiting abortion at six weeks, and a trigger law is set to ban abortion throughout pregnancy by mid-August.
- Indiana has asked a federal judge to lift injunctions on a slate of pro-life laws, including a ban on dismemberment abortion.
- Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said she will ask Iowa courts to lift injunctions blocking enforcement of the state’s fetal heartbeat law.
