Trump’s First Cabinet Meeting: A Bold Move Toward Fiscal Responsibility and National Renewal

A Government That Acknowledges God

The first cabinet meeting of President Trump’s second term began with prayer—an act that has been missing from the highest levels of American government for too long. Scott Turner, the head of HUD, led the room in thanking God for His mercy, wisdom, and provision.

Psalm 33:12 states, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His heritage.”

This public acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty marks a stark contrast to the previous administration, which actively removed faith from the public square. It was a clear reminder that leadership is a calling, and those in authority must serve with righteousness and humility (Proverbs 29:2).

Eliminating Waste and Cutting the Federal Deficit

One of the most significant revelations in this meeting was Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with eliminating fraud and unnecessary spending across federal agencies. Musk emphasized the urgent need for these reforms, stating that if the federal deficit—now exceeding $2 trillion annually—is left unchecked, America will become bankrupt.

Musk and his team have already begun an audit of federal employees, uncovering a massive problem:

  • Over 1 million federal workers failed to respond to a basic email verifying their job status.
  • Many of these employees may not even exist, leading to taxpayer money funding phantom salaries.
  • Some employees are double-dipping—getting paid by the federal government while secretly working for private companies.

As 2 Thessalonians 3:10 states, “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” These fraudulent salaries are robbing the American taxpayer. The administration sends termination letters to those who cannot verify their employment, marking one of the largest government downsizing efforts in U.S. history.

In addition, Trump called for an aggressive review of Social Security payments, noting that checks are still being sent to people listed as 200 years old. This level of fraud betrays hardworking Americans who contribute to these programs with the expectation of fairness and stewardship.

Revenue Generation: The $1 Trillion Gold Card Plan

Perhaps the most innovative proposal to generate revenue is the Trump Gold Card Program—a radical reworking of the EB-5 visa program, designed to:

  1. Allow high-net-worth individuals to purchase a U.S. residency card for $5 million.
  2. Require companies to buy Gold Cards to retain foreign talent, preventing the brain drain of top students graduating from American universities.
  3. Use the revenue from Gold Card sales to pay down the national debt and move toward a balanced budget.

There is currently a backlog of 250,000 people waiting for EB-5 visas, meaning that if just 200,000 Gold Cards are sold, it would generate $1 trillion—money that can be directly applied to national debt reduction.

Additionally, the Trump administration is working on reforming the EB-5 investment model to ensure that money brought into the country is properly invested in American businesses rather than being lost to mismanaged projects.

This program aligns with biblical principles of stewardship and economic wisdom. Proverbs 21:5 teaches, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” Instead of raising taxes, Trump is seeking creative solutions to reduce debt without burdening American workers.

Tariffs on the EU and Canada: Ending America’s Role as a Global Piggy Bank

Another major revenue-generating strategy is the imposition of 25% tariffs on European Union imports. For too long, the EU has taken advantage of America by implementing trade barriers that restrict U.S. exports while allowing European goods to flood American markets.

Trump made it clear:

  • The EU was formed to “screw the U.S.” through unfair trade deals.
  • America has a $300 billion annual trade deficit with the EU.
  • These tariffs will protect American industries and workers.

Trump also set an April 2 deadline for Mexico and Canada to prove they have taken sufficient action against fentanyl smuggling, or else they, too, will face steep tariffs. Fentanyl has killed over 300,000 Americans annually, and these measures are part of Trump’s war on drug cartels.

This approach respects national sovereignty, recognizing that America must stop subsidizing foreign nations at the expense of its own people. Deuteronomy 15:6 states, “For the Lord your God will bless you, as He promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”

America should not be begging for handouts—it should be leading the global economy.

Returning Power to the States: Education Reform

Trump also announced plans to strip power from the bloated Department of Education and return authority to the states.

  • Federal education spending is at an all-time high, yet American students rank among the lowest in global education rankings.
  • Red states like Florida and Texas are proving that state-led education policies outperform federal bureaucracy.
  • Local communities—not Washington—should decide what their children learn.

This aligns with Deuteronomy 6:7, which commands parents to be the primary educators of their children. The federal government has no constitutional or biblical authority to dictate woke ideology in classrooms.

Foreign Policy: Making Deals Instead of Funding Endless Wars

One of the boldest moments in the cabinet meeting was Trump’s approach to Ukraine.

  • Instead of sending billions in aid with no return, Trump negotiated a deal to gain access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals—resources essential for America’s energy and technology sectors.
  • Trump called out Europe for failing to contribute their fair share, insisting that they take responsibility for security in their own backyard.
  • The administration is working on a peace deal with Russia and Ukraine to end the war and save lives, rather than fueling perpetual conflict.

For years, the U.S. has been drawn into endless wars, violating the biblical principle of just warfare (Ecclesiastes 3:8). Trump’s strategy is different—using diplomacy and economic leverage instead of bloodshed.

Conclusion: A New Era of Biblical and Constitutional Leadership

President Trump’s first cabinet meeting was a monumental step toward restoring righteous governance, fiscal responsibility, and national sovereignty.

  • The elimination of government waste reflects a commitment to stewardship.
  • The Gold Card plan offers a constitutional and biblical method for generating revenue.
  • Tariffs and trade negotiations put America First, as the Founders intended.
  • Education reform restores parental rights and biblical values in schools.

As Christians, we must pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2) and support policies that honor God, defend liberty, and uphold justice. Let’s continue to stand for truth and hold our government accountable so that America may once again be a city on a hill (Matthew 5:14).

Opening Prayer:

SECRETARY TURNER: Thank you, Mr. President. Let’s pray.

Father, we thank you for this awesome privilege, Father, to be in your presence. God, thank you that you’ve allowed us to see this day. The Bible says that your mercies are new every morning. And, Father God, we give you the glory and the honor. Thank you, God, for President Trump, Father, for appointing us. Father God, thank you for anointing us to do this job. Father, we pray you’ll give the president and the vice president wisdom, Father God, as they lead.

Father, I pray for all of my colleagues that are here around the table and in this room. Lord God, we pray that we would lead with a righteous clarity, Father God, and as we serve the people of this country and every perspective agency, every job that we have, Father, we would humble ourselves before you that we would lead in a manner that you’ve called us to lead and to serve.

Father, the Bible says the blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. But, Father, we today honor you. And in your rightful place, Father, thank you for giving us this opportunity to restore faith in this country and be a blessing to the people of America. And, Lord God, today in our meeting, we pray that you will be glorified in our conversation.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
