A Special Plea to President Trump and Senator Marco Rubio: Please Act!
President Trump and Senator Marco Rubio, we urge you to take action to protect persecuted Christians in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). For far too long, previous administrations have ignored the escalating genocide against believers. The mass beheading of 70 Christians in a Protestant church in Kasanga is yet another tragic example of this unchecked jihadist violence.
We ask you to stand boldly for religious freedom and use your influence to pressure international bodies and regional leaders to take decisive action against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and other militant groups targeting Christians. The world must not continue to turn a blind eye while our brothers and sisters are massacred.
Jihad Against Christians: The Beheading of 70 Believers in the DRC
A devastating massacre of 70 Christians in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has largely gone unnoticed by the mainstream media. The horrific event took place in the early morning hours of February 13, when suspected militants from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF)—a group affiliated with the so-called Islamic State—brutally beheaded believers in a Protestant church in Kasanga.
The Atrocity: A Deliberate Attack on Christians
According to Open Doors and corroborated by CBN News, the attackers approached homes in Mayba, Lubero territory, in the early morning hours, coercing residents to come outside. Twenty Christian men and women were taken captive initially, and as the community attempted to intervene, an additional 50 believers were rounded up.
The militants then forced the hostages into a Protestant church, where they were mercilessly slaughtered. In the aftermath, many families were unable to bury their loved ones due to continued security threats in the region. Christians in the area are now fleeing for their lives.
Rising Persecution: A Systematic Targeting of Christians
This tragedy is just one instance in a larger wave of anti-Christian jihadist violence sweeping across Africa. Reports indicate that the ADF has been systematically attacking Christian villages, churches, and schools. The violence in the DRC has been exacerbated by regional conflicts, particularly with Rwanda, which some analysts suspect may be covertly supporting militant groups for geopolitical gains.
Dexter Van, an expert on anti-Christian violence, told CBN News:
“This is not an isolated event. What we are seeing is a coordinated jihad against Christians across Africa, particularly in regions where Islamic militants seek to establish dominance. The media’s silence is deafening. If this were any other minority group, there would be global outrage.”
Why Is the World Silent?
The persecution of Christians in Africa is one of the most underreported crises in the world today. As CBN’s Dexter Van pointed out if 70 people from another demographic had been beheaded—whether in a pride parade, a Palestinian village, or another politically sensitive location—media outlets would be saturated with coverage. However, the story has largely been ignored since these were Christians in Africa.
A scholar cited by CBN News, Virgil Hawkins, noted that more than 5.4 million people have died in conflicts in the DRC. Yet, Western media has published only a fraction of the coverage devoted to other global conflicts with significantly lower death tolls.
This bias, driven by anti-Christian sentiment and selective outrage, has left African Christians to suffer in silence.
A Call to Prayer and Action
As believers, we cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are called to pray, advocate, and take action.
Pray for:
-
God’s comfort and strength for the grieving families and the persecuted church in the DRC.
-
An end to violence, and that the national and international authorities would take action against these terrorist attacks.
-
The Holy Spirit to convict the ADF militants, leading them to repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ.
What You Can Do:
-
Raise Awareness – Share this report on social media, your church, and prayer groups.
-
Support Ministries like Open Doors – They provide aid and support to persecuted Christians worldwide.
-
Contact Lawmakers – Demand that U.S. and international leaders take action against jihadist violence targeting Christians in Africa.
This is not just an African issue—it is a Christian issue. The Church must stand united against persecution, remembering the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:10: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Will we remain silent while our Christian family is slaughtered, or will we speak up and pray fervently for their deliverance?
