Sharia Law and Constitutional Law Cannot Both Rule

Jeff Bayard reflects on Gary Binford’s interview with Anni Cyrus and urges Christians to test the warning, know the truth, and stand with courage.

I am writing this as a Christian brother, not as an institution trying to speak for every person at Virginia Christian Alliance. The warning is simple: Sharia law and constitutional law cannot both be supreme. Biblical Christianity and Islam cannot both be true. If we believe the Bible is the Word of God, then we must be willing to say so plainly.

Gary Binford’s interview with Aynaz Anni Cyrus is worth watching because she presses that issue with force. Cyrus is an Iranian-American author, speaker, Sharia survivor, and former child bride. In this conversation, she argues that Americans often misunderstand jihad because they think only of terrorism or open violence. She says jihad can also move through culture, institutions, schools, money, politics, and silence.

The video carries her full warning in her own words. My purpose here is not to repeat every claim as settled fact. Some claims need verification. Some may be better left in the video. But the central warning deserves serious attention from Christians who love truth, love their neighbors, and love ordered liberty under God.

This Is a Biblical Issue First

From a biblical worldview, Islam is a false religion. That is not said with hatred toward Muslims. It is said because the Bible leaves no room for another god, another Christ, or another gospel.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me. — Exodus 20:3, KJV

Islam denies the biblical identity of Jesus Christ. It does not confess Him as the eternal Son of God who died for sinners and rose bodily from the grave. Christians may be kind, patient, and respectful, but we cannot pretend that Islam and Christianity worship the same God in the same truth.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. — John 14:6, KJV

This Is a Constitutional Issue Too

The Constitution protects religious liberty for individuals. A peaceful Muslim neighbor has the right to live, work, worship, speak, and raise a family under the same civil protections every American should have.

But Sharia as a governing legal system is different. A constitutional republic cannot permit any religious legal code to stand beside, above, or against the Constitution. Equal protection, due process, freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, and the rule of civil law cannot be surrendered to a parallel system of religious law.

That is why this issue matters beyond theology. If Sharia is treated merely as private belief, people will miss the political and legal claims that often come with it. Cyrus is warning that jihad is not always loud. Sometimes it advances through institutions, language, pressure, money, and patience.

Let the Video Speak, but Test the Claims

The interview contains strong claims. Some are easy to verify. For example, the U.S. Mosque Survey counted 2,769 mosques in the United States in 2020, up from 2,106 in 2010. That supports the general range discussed in the interview, though a newer national count would still be helpful.

Other claims should be handled carefully. If a statistic or accusation cannot be verified, I would rather omit it from the written article than weaken the warning with sloppy claims. The video remains available for viewers who want to hear Cyrus’s full argument. The written post should be sober, truthful, and clean.

That is not retreat. That is Christian discipline. We do not need exaggeration to tell the truth. We do not need careless words to warn about real danger.

The Pattern Is Not Hard to See

Look at what has happened across parts of Europe and the United Kingdom: parallel communities, street pressure, growing demands on public life, and governments that often seem afraid to speak clearly. America is not immune to the same pattern. Texas and other local examples show why zoning, schools, civic boards, and religious institutions matter.

This does not mean every Muslim is a threat. It means ideas have consequences. Law has consequences. Theology has consequences. A free people cannot stay free if they refuse to examine movements that seek power while calling every warning bigotry.

Start at Home

One of the strongest parts of the interview is Cyrus’s call to begin in the home. She does not tell Christians to wait for Washington. She speaks about fathers, mothers, children, churches, and zip codes.

That is where the fight for truth usually begins. Are we teaching our children who Christ is? Are we teaching them why Christianity is true? Are we warning them about false religion, false law, and false liberty? Are we training them to be courageous, or merely comfortable?

What I Am Asking You to Do

Watch the interview. Test the claims. Keep what is true. Omit what cannot be verified. Pray for Muslims to be saved. Teach your children the uniqueness of Christ. Learn what is happening in your county. Speak with courage while there is still room to speak.

This is not a call to fear. Fear makes people foolish. This is a call to truth, discernment, and Christian courage.

Our hope is not in politics. Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ. But because Christ is Lord, Christians should not sleep while false religion and false law advance around them.
