This is how the experiment ends.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.” (Matthew 23:27 ESV)
Do you remember Michael Savage? He was a real character. Actually, he still is, doing what celebrities do after a public broadcasting career has ended: podcast. His Savage Nation syndicated radio program was discontinued by Cumulus Media and Westwood One in 2021, finishing a 27-year run that began in 1994. Savage inflamed his audiences with his wild, and angry, over-the-top rhetoric. He was an exemplar of “shock talk” radio for his wild, militant “conservative” political views. Eventually, he went too far, and the UK lowered the boom on him, permanently banning him from entering their country.
I remember something I once heard him say, “The Left is suffering from a mental illness. You have to be insane to be a leftist.” [I paraphrase] Even then, I thought he was on to something. I believe it all the more so today. But why? How did this happen?.
The mental illness of Leftism seems to be flourishing only because so much of society is enabling the “righteous.”
How much time is actually spent even attempting to analyze how deep and wide the cultural crisis we are really in? No matter how much news and information you or I might consume, it’s not enough to explain the madness. This is the result of two important factors: One, many have no recall of what our societies were like in mid-century America, and two, we have little time or appetite for deep thinking and inquiry. The last seventy years have steadily devolved into something that is now become a form of madness. There is a name for it: Mass Formation Psychosis—the madness of crowds.
Recently, I heard a fascinating analysis from one of my favorite cultural pundits, Andrew Klavan. (Pictured) I recommend you watch and listen to the episode on YouTube: “How America Went Mad.”
“I see a country that has gone nuts. Our lawmen no longer believe in enforcing the law. Our newsmen no longer believe in reporting the news. Judging by the fact that they shut down our churches because they were so afraid of death, our priests no longer believe in God and the resurrection. This isn’t because they’ve come up with something new. It’s not because they’re doing something so brilliant that we’ve never seen it before. They [will] call it progressivism, but… they’ve just gone back to a very old delusion. Because of that delusion they cannot tell the difference between [themselves]… and the reality of the… world.”
Klavan takes great care in explaining how “we the people” believe we are electing the “chosen” people—obeying the chosen people—who, supposedly are qualified to lead and lecture. This is not because such people are the protectors of liberty, or of justice, or of decency. No, not at all. It’s because they manage to convince a lot of other people that they deserve to have power over us. And of course, it’s all for our benefit.
This is how we’ve become subservient to the elites who suffer the pathology of “extreme self-righteousness.” This is no benefit to free men and women; to our families, our children, our communities… our country. This pathology has been perfected and practiced for so long, that the obvious seems undetectable. Could at last the sane among us are now starting to see it, admit it, form up, and turn and confront the problem? So, what exactly is the problem? Christians of all people should know this: No one is righteous.
-
10 There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 and the way of peace have they not known: 18 there is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. (Romans 3:9-19 Authorized KJV)
We hear talk about double standards and slanted news and views. But does it seem there’s something we aren’t hearing? Often, instead of bold, fiery messaging we might get tepid responses from the pulpits of our houses of worship if anything at all. Odd that, knowing how much liberty matters.
The indictment of a former President of the United States knows no precedent. Whatever we might say about Donald Trump, it’s at once heart-breaking and exceedingly sinister. It’s proof that the insanely “righteous” Justice Department, is using its power to destroy the very thing they are sworn to uphold: equal justice. It’s not just about one man standing in the way of the priests of righteousness, it’s about us—losing our right to govern ourselves by the grace of God, by the only righteousness that can exist on this earth—imputed to us by Christ alone. That message, my friends, can actually get me cancelled.
In this world, the state wants to be your mother, and men want to be women. The rescuer is arrested for his courage. Equity is in fact, an adulterer, stealing from one man to satisfy the desires of “righteous” man. If things don’t balance out, the self-righteous will just tip the scales, or rewrite the rules.
The woman hating, child stealing, race obsessing, power lusting righteous pretenders are not all that, and they never can be. The teleology [the ultimate goal] of the self-righteous is only about short-term power. There is no good ending because they will not believe things will end at all. This is power that they just can’t grasp, because Christ holds the power, and we are His Church. If He’s made us more than conquerers, why not suit up for the battle? (Ephesians 6:11-18)

And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros—a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra—a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it]. (Matthew 16:18 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)
Church, there’s no time to be timid. Remember, no matter what else happens, we win. Consider the definition of grassroots. It’s the exact of opposite of the Uber-righteous elite. It’s not that hard for grass to grow; good soil, water, and regular feeding, and it will spread everywhere. Look for the grassroots organizations in your community, and see how you can be a part. There are too many opportunities not to be a part of the grassroots.
Grass, rocks and armor. It’s odd how these basic artifacts are so confounding to the priests, the acolytes, and proselytes of the self-righteous elitism of our day and age. When you think about it, it’s almost seems insane how well it will work to defeat them.
Ben Franklin, when asked about this new political experiment said, “It’s a republic, if we can keep it.” Well, I hope we remember that, but I think some may be asking, “I forgot, who’s Ben Franklin?” Well, he might have been a liberal, but he wasn’t self-righteous.
