A group of Richmond area Christian prayer leaders are leading Virginia’s “Response” call for a day of prayer for our nation. The “Response” call for prayer was initiated by Texas Governor Rick Perry.
Governor Perry has asked all statehouse leaders to issue a call for “Response” in their respective states.
Many governors across our land are participating in the “Response” call. Each state will arrange its own “Response” call program for the day.
The Virginia “Response” Call to Prayer Leadership Team has planned Virginia’s call as follows:
The “Response” will open at 10:00 AM on August 6 at the Meadowood Church of God with a presentation of Governor Bob McDonnell’s Special Letter of Support. Following the reading of the Governor’s special letter of support, there will be music, announcements, etc. Throughout the prayer service, members of the Prayer Team will lead those assembled in group and individual prayer for our nation. From time to time during the day, Christian leaders will come forward to offer prayer and words of hope and encouragement for our nation. Many of the prayer warriors will spend the entire five hours lifting up our nation to the Lord. Others will be in attendance and pray for brief periods throughout the prayer event. People will be coming in and out of the service. In all, the prayer team is expecting 400 to 500 people will participate in praying for our nation at this designated location.
The prayer team is asking churches and prayer leaders across the Commonwealth to gather in groups for corporate prayer for some period of time during the hours of the National and State Response service.
The prayer team is planning to have a video link to the Houston “Response” as part of its Virginia prayer service.
The Commonwealth’s “Response” prayer team will be reaching out to Christian leaders across the state to either come to the Richmond’s “Response” call, or to participate in one in their own community. Hopefully, many churches will have a special “Response” call for prayer for our Nation on Sunday morning.
Please consider personally attending the Richmond “Response” and what role you can take leading our nation back to Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Biblical principles that the Lord has given us to live by.

Entering politics does not obligate the public servant to check his/her beliefs at the door. Calls for prayer and fasting have long been used by leaders, including George Washington, John Adams and Abraham Lincoln.
