From the VIRGINIA SOCIETY FOR HUMAN LIFE
For those going to the MARCH FOR LIFE in Washington on January 25th, stop by your congressman’s office to say “Hello”. Thank him for his votes for pro-life legislation, especially if he voted for the District of Columbia Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.(roll call)
The vote took place last July at the end of the previous session of Congress. The vote was 220-154 in favor of the bill, a strong majority (a 66 vote margin), although short of the two-thirds vote required for a bill to pass under the fast-track procedure utilized. So the bill failed to be passed.
There may be renewed action on the District of Columbia Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in the new 113th session of Congress that has just recently convened. If so, the Congressman should again support this very important legislation.
If your Congressman did not vote for the District of Columbia Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and does not support pro-life legislation, express your disappointment. Invite his interest in the right to life issue, offering to provide him information on the subject and to provide answers to questions he may have. Virginia Society for Human Life and its national office, the National Right to Life Committee, have a trove of information to provide.
In most cases, you will be speaking to the Congressman’s aide, because the regular practice is that the Congressmen return home on Thursday to their districts for the week-end.
Be sure to leave your name and address including your zipcode at the end of your visit. The zipcode identifies you as his constituent, a member of his district and therefore eligible to vote for him.
Vote by Virginia Congressmen on the District of Columbia Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 3803:
In favor; Cantor, Forbes, Goodlatte, Griffith, Hurt, Rigell, Wittman, Wolf
Opposed; Connolly, Moran, Scott
