“The Role of Christians and Pastors in Civil Government: Part III”

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lend to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness.” George Washington, 1796

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by religion and morality …. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to any other.” John Adams, Second President, 1798

“There is a universal language (in America’s historic declarations) which affirms that this is a religious nation, … a mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.” U.S. Supreme Court, 1892

“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first – and most basic – expression of Americanism. Thus the Founding Fathers saw it, and thus with God’s help, it will continue to be.” Dwight Eisenhower, 1955

With only 32 days left until the elections, we must ask ourselves: “How have we strayed so far from our religious and moral foundations? Just as importantly, what can we now do to help rebuild the great Judeo-Christian ‘pillars’ on which America was founded and has prospered?”

For some answers to those big questions, please join us this weekend on Valley Faith in Action as we review the Jericho Plan for confronting strongholds of evil in our culture today, the Nehemiah Plan for rebuilding the broken-down walls of America, and the grand plan for a Third Great Awakening and National Restoration in America.

We will also feature David Barton for this, the final edition of his 11-part series on America’s Godly Heritage. For example:

  • Which is more important to good government? Is it the laws on the books, such as our Constitution, or is it the men and women who write, interpret, and enforce those laws?
  • What is our role as “We the People” in determining the character and integrity of our government leaders?
