Virginia Democrats' $150,000 Power Grab Exposed One Week Before Election

Dear Christian:

Virginia redistricting corruption doesn’t hide in the shadows. Sometimes it happens in broad daylight, one day after a $150,000 check clears.

Here’s what happened this week in Virginia:

October 22: Eric Holder’s National Democratic Redistricting Committee donated $150,000 each to the Virginia House Democratic Caucus and gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger’s campaign.

October 23: The very next day, Democrat Speaker Don Scott called a special legislative session on redistricting.

The timing isn’t subtle. The intent is clear. And Virginia voters need to know about this corruption scandal one week before Election Day.

The Daily Signal Exposes Virginia Redistricting Corruption

The Daily Signal broke this story with details that should alarm every Virginia voter.

Hans von Spakovsky, manager of The Heritage Foundation’s Election Law Reform Initiative, didn’t mince words: “There seems to be almost a direct quid pro quo between this donation and the Democrat call for a special session, a shameful embarrassment for the Democrats in Virginia.”

He continued: “It is almost as if they are saying their legislative duties are for sale.”

Moreover, this special session pulls Republican gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears off the campaign trail—right before the November 4th election.

Coincidence? You decide.

Virginia Voters Already Rejected This Redistricting Scheme

Here’s what makes this corruption especially egregious: In 2020, Virginia voters approved a constitutional amendment creating a bipartisan redistricting commission by 66.1% to 33.9%.

Read that again. Two-thirds of Virginians voted to take redistricting out of partisan hands and put it in the hands of a bipartisan commission.

However, Democrats are now attempting to go around that commission—defying the voters who gave them a clear mandate just five years ago.

Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears said it plainly at the Capitol Monday: “Voters choose their representatives—not the other way around.”

What Scripture Says About Corruption and Dishonest Scales

Proverbs 11:1 declares: “A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.”

The reality is that redistricting manipulation is precisely that—false scales designed to predetermine outcomes rather than let voters decide fairly.

Furthermore, Proverbs 16:8 reminds us: “Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.”

This Virginia redistricting corruption reveals a willingness to trade righteousness for power. In other words, Democrats are attempting to rig the game before they lose the House of Delegates in next week’s elections.

The Democrats’ Real Agenda Behind the Redistricting Power Grab

According to The Daily Signal’s analysis, Speaker Scott and Democrats are trying to begin a multiyear process to create more Democrat-leaning districts for the 2026 congressional midterms.

We would appreciate your donation.

:

In fact, they’re rushing this through before they potentially lose control of the House of Delegates on November 4.

Virginia Republican Del. Tom Garrett explained the Democrats’ strategy in detail: They’re trying to lock in advantages now before voters potentially remove them from power.

This is what happens when political parties become more committed to power than to principle. Consequently, they’re willing to defy voters, violate the spirit of constitutional amendments, and accept large donations in exchange for legislative action—all in the week before an election.

This is no longer about fair representation—it’s about desperation and corruption.

Former Attorney General Warns About Redistricting Scandal

Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia’s attorney general from 2010 to 2014, told The Daily Signal that this special session may backfire on Democrats.

“Every Republican candidate is going to say, ‘I’m not voting for this. The people of Virginia have spoken. I’m not going to spit in their face,'” Cuccinelli explained.

Moreover, he noted that Democrats are “seizing on the wrong side of a 2-to-1 issue.” The 2020 constitutional amendment passed with 66% support. In short, voters have already made their position clear.

What This Virginia Corruption Scandal Means for November 4th

Let me be direct about what Virginia Christians should understand:

First, this demonstrates what’s at stake in next week’s election. Democrats hold narrow majorities in both chambers (51-49 in the House, 21-19 in the Senate). Therefore, they’re willing to do just about anything to maintain power—including defying voters and accepting large donations from national political operatives.

Second, this shows the importance of the gubernatorial race. Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears is the Republican candidate for governor. Democrats are pulling her off the campaign trail one week before the election through this special session. Why? Because they fear her message is resonating with Virginia voters.

Third, this reveals the stakes for the House of Delegates. If Republicans win the House next week, they can stop this redistricting manipulation. On the other hand, if Democrats maintain control, they’ll continue this power grab.

Biblical Standards for Leaders Who Reject Corruption

Exodus 18:21 gives us the biblical standard for leaders: “Look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe.”

Notice the final qualification: leaders who “hate a bribe.”

As a result, Virginia voters must ask themselves: When a political organization receives $150,000 and calls a special session the next day, does that demonstrate leadership that “hates a bribe”? Or does it demonstrate the opposite?

Proverbs 29:4 warns: “By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.”
Virginia Christians, we have a choice on November 4th.

What You Can Do Right Now

First, share this article. Most Virginia voters don’t know about this redistricting corruption scandal yet. They need to understand what happened this week before they vote on November 4th.

Second, research every candidate on your ballot. Visit the Virginia Christian Voter Guide to see where candidates stand. Pay special attention to your House of Delegates race—these representatives will vote on this redistricting scheme.

Third, vote on November 4th. Don’t sit this one out. Your vote matters, especially in close House races that could be decided by fewer than 100 votes.

Finally, pray for Virginia’s leaders. Even when we disagree with their actions, we’re commanded to pray for those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Pray that truth would prevail. Pray that corruption would be exposed. Pray for righteousness in Virginia’s government.

The Bottom Line

This Virginia redistricting corruption scandal proves Democrats are willing to do just about anything to win. They’re willing to defy voters. They’re willing to accept large donations and immediately call special sessions. They’re willing to manipulate district lines to predetermine outcomes.

Therefore, Virginia Christians must be willing to do something much simpler: Vote.

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2)

Will Virginia rejoice or groan? That depends on who shows up on November 4th.

You have 8 days.
