Many times you hear the phrase promoting healthy food choices: “You are what you eat.” Medical professionals and athletes are very aware that certain food can energize your body and others can drain it. For some people, their metabolism allows them to eat a lot without gaining weight. For others, their body metabolism is no help with keeping off extra pounds. In fact, one of the reasons for washing your hands before supper is to keep germs from entering your body while you eat. It was on the tradition of hand washing that the scribes and Pharisees confronted Jesus and He told them:
“There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.” Mark 7:15
When you read the entire seventh chapter of the Gospel according to Mark (xref: Matthew 15), you should note that Jesus does not say that washing your hands is wrong. He simply, yet definitively, states that spiritually you are defiled by the contents of your heart, not your stomach.
He explained it to his disciples:
Mark 7:20-23
- And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
- For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
- Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
- All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Unfortunately, we have many folks who go to church every Sunday, who have been defiled. Yet, they apparently do not know it.
Our nation is in trouble with God because we have elected officials, from the president on down to city officials, who believe that God is wrong for His disapproval of men having sex with other men. We have elected officials running this nation who have no concern that over 50,000,000 babies have been murdered and think it is okay to murder another baby tomorrow. And concerning pride, we have elected officials who march in “gay pride” parades. We also have elected officials who love people who covet the riches of others so that they do not have to work and yet get paid to stay home. We have elected officials who are deceitful, commit adultery, and pass laws from which they exempt themselves. The murdering of innocent children alone is an abomination which is bringing the judgment of God upon this nation and will cause many people to be cast into the lake of fire.
The fact that there are elected officials championing abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and promoting same-sex couples is tragic because they were elected. Someone voted for them so that they could be in a governing position to promote every evil thing that Jesus mentioned that defiles.
Now, no one who believes it is not okay to murder another would vote for a candidate who believes in baby killing. If you do, it reveals what is coming out of your heart.
No one who believes God is the greatest would vote for someone who believes he is greater, knows more, and is more moral and just than God. Yet, if you vote for someone who supports men marrying men and women marrying women, then raising and indoctrinating children to do the same, it reveals the real contents of your heart. Your vote for those who are openly wicked shows who you really are.
The flood gates of pushing same-sex marriage upon society started with elected local city officials in California. For two months in 2004, a newly elected Mayor Gavin Newsom and officials of the City and County of San Francisco issued marriage licenses to approximately 4,000 same-sex couples. At that same time, the San Jose City Council, by a vote of 8–1, agreed to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions for city employees. And those who put them in office were defiled, whether they knew it or not. Who you vote for as mayor and who you vote into city council can defile you.
So, in local, state and national elections, you must decide if you want to be defiled. If a candidate is affiliated to a political party that promotes same-sex marriage, you already know where that candidate stands and you have no excuse if you help him or her promote sin.
Have you been defiled? Hope not. But if so, do you plan to be defiled the next time you vote? When you close that curtain in the little voting booth, God sees and “You are what you vote!”
