For this six-part series on the love that comes from God our Father.   We will be looking at the following verses.  These form the Christian foundation of divine love upon which the Christian life stands.

You Are!

  1. Loved by Jesus: As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. John 15:9.
  2. Loved by the Father: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
  3. Loved through the Spirit: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5.
  4. No Greater Love: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13.
  5. God is Love: And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16.
  6. No Separation from love: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39.

God is Love

Scripture:
“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16)

Reflection:
We all have assurance that God has loved us, and we fully believe in the great fact of redemption by which He has manifested His love to us.

God is love:
John often repeats this profound truth because it is central to our faith. It is a truth that brings immense pleasure to the mind, encourages us towards holiness, and sustains our souls in times of sorrow and trial. In our darkest moments and perplexities, we can find comfort in the simple, powerful declaration: “God is love.” This assurance helps us bear any trial and brightens even the gloomiest clouds that hang over our lives.

Dwelling in Love:
Religion is fundamentally about love. God is love; He has loved us, and we are called to love Him, one another, and the entire world. Heaven is a realm of pure love, and earth can reflect this heavenly bliss as far as love and religion prevail. Love eradicates corrupt passions, crimes, jealousies, and wars, spreading the joy of heaven across the globe. If a person is motivated by love, they embody the spirit of the heavenly world and live in an atmosphere of love.

The Way to Dwell in God’s Love:
The only way to truly dwell in God’s love is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As Jesus Himself declared, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). By accepting Jesus as our Savior and following Him, we enter into this loving relationship with God and abide in His love.
