CLIC-VA UPDATE: Oppose the Virginia Values Act, Top Ten REALLY BAD BILLS OF 2020

Below is a legislative summary from the Conservative Legislative Information Council (CLIC). Priority: Oppose SB1663, a far leftist bill that kills jobs, puts the economy in reverse and is a full employment bill that would usher in a Godzilla that will wreak havoc on Virginia.

Full Employment for Lawyers Monstrosity”

HB 1663 will be heard in General Laws on Wed 1/28, PLEASE Ask the Committee Members To OPPOSE HB 1663

Expands “Protected Class” to include –

Race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, or status as a veteran. [If you are not covered by one of these classes, please, raise your hand]

Sectors of the economy covered –

Adds “Public Accommodation” and credit to currently covered public and private employment and housing. [Every entity providing a service or product to the public]

“Place of Public Accommodation” definition –

All places or businesses offering or holding out to the general public goods, services, privileges, facilities, advantages, or accommodations. [Every entity providing a service or product to the public]

Creates explicit causes of action –

Creates explicit causes of action for unlawful discrimination in public accommodations and employment in the Virginia Human Rights Act. Currently, under the Act there is no cause of action for discrimination in public accommodations. [A ‘cause of action’ gives a person the right to find a lawyer and file a lawsuit]
