“God commands you to choose for rulers ‘Just men who will rule in the fear of God’.  The preservation of government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect their duty, and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted ….  Public revenues will be squandered …, and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.”        (Noah Webster)

On Life and Marriage:

Webster wrote those words in 1832.  So, what would he say today about a president and members of his administration and of his party who support same-sex “marriage” and the willful murder of unborn babies?

On Religious Freedom, Constitutional Principles, & National Debt:

Who show an open hostility toward the conscience rights of God-fearing Americans?  Who often abuse executive power in violation of clear Constitutional principles? And who appear indifferent to our skyrocketing national debt of over 17 trillion dollars — more than $55,000 for each American?

Restoring our Godly Heritage:

Have we indeed neglected our duty and placed “unprincipled” men in office who have corrupted our government and squandered our revenues?  If so, what can we do to make better choices in November — “just men who will rule in the fear of God”?  Finally, what can we learn about all this from our Founding Fathers so that we can begin to rebuild the pillars of good government?

To help answer these questions, we are again featuring David Barton in Part III of this series on “America’s Godly Heritage”.  This week, he will talk about “The Keys to Good Government – According to Our Founding Fathers”.

On Biblical Authority and First Principles:

For example, what did our Founding Father use as the ultimate authority for determining right and wrong guidelines for good government, and how did they incorporate the principles of religion and morality in their state constitutions?

Is there a connection for us today between the decline in our Judeo-Christian values and the moral meltdown of our culture?  Is it possible for America, or any nation, to prosper apart from obedience to God’s principles in our daily lives and in the public square?

Flash Alert:    Bringing it home, what about leaders of self-proclaimed Christian organizations like Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) who seem uncertain about or unwilling to follow clear Biblical teaching on morality and God’s design and plan for marriage – despite their motto that “Thy Word Is Truth”.
