Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations

Dear Christian:

The 2026 National Day of Prayer is this Thursday, May 7 — the 75th annual observance. Across Virginia, believers will gather on courthouse lawns, in church sanctuaries, in public parks, and on the grounds of our state Capitol, along with dozens of other locations across our Commonwealth, to call on the name of the Lord for our nation.

The 2026 theme is “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations,” drawn from 1 Chronicles 16:24: “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.”

You are invited to be there.

Why This Matters

Public prayer alone will not heal a nation that refuses to repent. But when God’s people gather visibly to call on His name, we are doing exactly what 2 Chronicles 7:14 commands: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

The promise is conditional. The promise is also real.

What to Do

Find a gathering. Show up. Bring your Bible. Bring your family.

And then go home and keep praying — Friday, Saturday, and every day until He returns.

Virginia Christian Alliance
The mission of the VIRGINIA CHRISTIAN ALLIANCE is to promote moral, social and scientific issues we face today from a Biblical point of view. In addition we will refute and oppose, not with hate, but with facts and humor, the secular cultural abuses that have overridden laws and standards of conduct of the past. We will encourage Christians to participate in these efforts through conferences, development of position papers, booklets and tracts, radio/TV spots, newspaper ads and articles and letters-to-the editor, web sites, newsletters and providing speakers for church and civic meetings.
