Serial Murderer and Abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s “House of Horrors”

“…Governor McDonnell has been slow to act, he must now act and move to addressing medical and safety aspects of providing abortions, as well as the record keeping and administrative practices of abortion clinics so we do not suffer a Philadelphia-like tragedy in Virginia..”

Back in August when Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli ruled that Virginia has the legal right to regulate abortion clinics in the same manner it currently regulates hospitals and surgery centers the pro abortion advocates claimed it to be merely an attempt to make abortion inaccessible.

The Attorney Generals office cited patient safety concerns. “The state has long regulated outpatient surgical facilities and personnel to ensure a certain level of protection for patients. There is no reason to hold facilities providing abortion services to any lesser standard for their patients,” said Brian J. Gottstein, a spokesman for Mr. Cuccinelli.

A horrid story of bloody late-term abortions may now lead to increased regulation and oversight of these outpatient abortuaries. Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor, his wife and eight other suspects are now under arrest in Philadelphia

There is also HB1428…….and the fate of the bill and the lives of the unborn will be in the hands of the Democratic-led Senate.  My question to them is simple. In light of the Gosnell murders, why would you stop this bill?  Are babies dying or being murdered here in Virginia, and before you answer that……….how do you know?  Should this bill be defeated by the Senate, what will the Governor do about it……….or will Governor McDonnell act now?

A bill to regulate abortion clinics in a similar manner as hospitals was passed by a House committee Thursday morning, lining up the legislation for a vote by the full House.

The bill, HB1428, would place Virginia’s 21 abortion clinics under the eye of the state Department of Health. Supporters of the bill want to see the clinics subject to state inspection. Opponents say there is little evidence that any problems exist.

In Virginia, abortion clinics are categorized as outpatient facilities – similar to medical and dentistry offices and centers for plastic surgery, midwifery and endoscopy. Those facilities are staffed by licensed medical professionals.

Licensing by the state Health Department is required for outpatient surgical centers and hospitals. In Virginia, abortions beyond the initial trimester of pregnancy must be performed in a hospital setting.

Similar legislation has made the rounds in years past but is usually rejected in the Senate.

“House of Horrors” Abortionist Charged with Multiple Murders

Dr. Gosnell reveals what happens when abortionists police themselves.

The gruesome murders charged to a Philadelphia abortionist of seven babies and a 41-year-old mother is the tip of the iceberg. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said hundreds of others likely died in the filthy clinic that Kermit Gosnell ran for thirty years.

Federal and state agents found jars of aborted babies’ feet lining shelves, and bags of aborted babies in a refrigerator with employees’ lunches, in addition to blood on the floor, cat feces on the stairs, broken equipment, and blood-stained blankets covering semi-conscious women.

The grand jury entered the abortion mill in hazmat suits.

Gosnell delivered live babies who were six, seven, and eight months old, then stabbed their necks with scissors and cut their spinal cords. One of the murder charges is for a 30-week-old baby weighing just six pounds. The mother was 17 years old. Gosnell reportedly joked, this baby “could walk me to the bus stop.”

Gosnell took advantage of minorities, immigrants, and poor women, and he made millions of dollars committing illegal and late-term abortions in squalid and barbaric conditions, prosecutors said. At least 46 lawsuits had been filed against him. A number involved Gosnell puncturing uteruses, then sewing up the women without telling them of the injury.

He also infected women with venereal diseases from unsterilized equipment.

State regulators ignored complaints about Gosnell going back to 1996, and they have failed to visit or inspect his clinic since 1993.

“The inaction of public agencies is exposed,” said DA Seth Williams. “There’s more oversight for women’s hair salons than for abortion clinics in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

Kermit Gosnell did not act alone as he slaughtered babies and butchered women. Eight others, including his wife, have been charged. The state authorities who turned a blind eye have yet to be held accountable.

Women faced this house of horrors because the powerful abortion lobby — and their friends in government — placed abortion above human rights.

Abortionist Douglas Laube, chairman of Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health, told AP regarding his fellow abortionists, “Practitioners are under tremendous pressure and scrutiny. … Intuitively [i.e. without substantiation] I’d say they’re operating as squeaky clean as they can.”

“It’s hard to tell the extent of egregious offenders because the abortion industry is almost completely unregulated,” said Dr. Donna Harrison, president of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

“If a doctor in a hospital did a hysterectomy and had a patient with a complication, he would have to go back and explain why to his colleagues,” Harrison said. “With abortion, the doctor has nobody to face — they basically just slide through the accountability process with nobody to hold their feet to the fire.”

This is a wake-up call that goes beyond Philadelphia.

How many abortionists like this may there be in your state? Are the department of health or other responsible agencies inspecting abortion mills? Are emergency room doctors reporting when numerous patients are sent from the same abortionist or mill?

Legislators need to enforce oversight of abortion mills and the government agencies tasked with patients’ safety. When was the last time each abortion mill was inspected? How often? What violations were found? How were they penalized? What laws are lacking in your state?

Abortion will never be safe. Yet abortion lobbyists argue against laws that reduce the damage to women by claiming it will burden the abortionists with increased costs. Dr. Gosnell reveals what happens when abortionists police themselves.

CBN Reported:

Prosecutors have described a Philadelphia, Pa., abortion clinic as a “house of horrors.”

Dr. Kermit Gosnell and four members of his staff have been charged with murder after allegedly delivering hundreds of live babies and then killing them.

When authorities raided Gosnell’s abortion clinic they found a stench-filled, unsanitary mess — bags of fetuses stuffed inside a refrigerator.

Should this arrest be a wake-up call for lawmakers on abortion? Wendy Wright, with Concerned Women for America, talked about this and more, on CBN Newswatch, Jan. 20.  Click here to watch.

“The grand jury went to the scene wearing hazmat suits,” said Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams. “It was filthy. Squalid. There was feces – cat feces every where.

“[In] case after case Dr. Gosnell and his assistants induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies,” he added.

Authories said Gosnell used scissors to kill the babies. He reportedly killed scores more. but destroyed the records. He was also charged with the death of a patient who died after being over-medicated.

“A doctor who knowingly and systematically mistreats women patients to the point that one of them dies in his so called care commits murder under the law,” Williams said.

Women were infected with venereal diseases through Gosnell’s unsterilized instruments.

“He sent woman after woman to the emergency room with punctured uteruses and intestines,” Williams continued. “Untrained, unsupervised workers injected dangerous drugs into women undergoing illegal late-term abortions.”

Late-term abortions are illegal in Pennsylvania. State regulators hadn’t inspected Gosnell’s clinic in nearly 20 years and ignored 46 lawsuits which were filed against the clinic.

“There’s more oversight for women’s hair salons than for abortion clinics in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Williams said.
