When news broke that a transgender-identifying man opened fire at a Catholic school in Minneapolis — killing two, injuring seventeen, and then taking his own life — it joined a troubling list of violent attacks committed by those embracing gender ideology.
Journalist Tyler O’Neil recently documented the rise of such violence, noting that many of these perpetrators showed open hostility toward Christians. His reporting names names and incidents, helping us recognize a disturbing pattern that the media often downplays or ignores.
Here are some of the most sobering examples:
-
Robin “Robert” Westman (Minneapolis, 2025) — killed two and injured 17 at a Catholic school before taking his own life.
-
Audrey Hale (Nashville, 2023) — killed three children and three adults at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian school, before being shot by police.
-
Snochia Moseley (Aberdeen, MD, 2018) — killed four at a Rite Aid distribution center before committing suicide.
-
Maya “Alec” McKinney (Colorado, 2019) — opened fire with another student, killing one and injuring eight.
-
Dylan Butler (Iowa, 2024) — genderfluid-identified student, killed the school principal and one student, injuring six more, then killed himself.
-
Jason “Alexia” Willie (Illinois, 2023) — indicted on 14 counts for threats of rape, shootings, and bombings against schools and churches.
-
Cameron David Storer (“Nicolette Fait”) (Oregon, 2023) — confessed to burning down a historic Portland church.
-
Maeve Nota (Washington, 2022) — vandalized a Catholic church with hateful graffiti and destruction.
To be clear, this is not to say that all who identify as transgender are violent — most are not. But the pattern is undeniable: a movement that claims to be about “love” and “inclusion” has produced a rising tide of rage and destruction, and Christians are increasingly a target.
The Missing Piece
O’Neil rightly identifies the role of radical rhetoric. Transgender activists, media figures, and organizations like the Human Rights Campaign constantly frame opposition to their ideology as “hate” or even “genocide.” When people are told repeatedly that they are under attack, that Christians are trying to erase them, and that they face an “epidemic” of murder, it creates a combustible environment.
However, his article, as thorough as it is, overlooks the most profound truth: this movement is not merely cultural or political. It is spiritual.
From the Beginning
Genesis 1:27 states plainly:
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
This verse is not a footnote in the biblical story — it is foundational. Humanity was created in God’s image, male and female, with distinct yet complementary design. That creation order reflects God’s wisdom, His goodness, and His very nature.
Satan has always sought to attack God’s image. In Eden, he questioned God’s word and deceived humanity into rebellion. Today, he continues that rebellion by attacking the very categories of male and female, seeking to erase the God-given order that grounds human identity, marriage, family, and society itself.
The transgender movement is therefore not merely misguided — it is diabolical. It is fueled by lies that come from the enemy of our souls, who “was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44).
Flesh and Blood Are Not the Enemy
Christians must maintain a clear focus. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Trans-identifying individuals are not our enemies. They are fellow human beings, created in God’s image, but deceived by a destructive ideology. They are captives of sin and of Satan’s lies. Our response must therefore be both courageous in truth and compassionate in love.
We must pray for those ensnared in gender confusion. Pray that God will open their eyes, break the chains of deception, and lead them to their true identity in Christ.
The False Promise of “Affirmation”
Transgender activists argue that without so-called “gender-affirming care,” people will kill themselves. Yet even the lawyer arguing before the Supreme Court admitted there is no evidence that hormones and surgeries reduce suicide. These interventions only mutilate the body while leaving the heart unchanged.
The gospel, however, offers real transformation. Paul wrote to the Corinthians after listing sins that included sexual immorality and effeminacy:
“And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:11
There is hope. People can be set free. Lives can be restored. Christ has the power to cleanse, forgive, and transform.
Standing Firm with Truth and Grace
In the face of rising hostility, the Church cannot retreat or soften its message. We must name the movement for what it is — a satanic assault on God’s creation. At the same time, we must extend the mercy of Christ to those trapped in it.
That means preaching clearly about God’s design for male and female. It means resisting the pressure to compromise on pronouns or ideology. And it means loving enough to pray, to reach out, and to hold out the gospel as the only true hope for those who are hurting.
Conclusion
The violence associated with transgender ideology is a symptom of something far deeper: a spiritual war over God’s creation order. Satan aims to destroy, but Christ promises to redeem.
As Christians, we are called to stand between those two realities — to declare the truth of God’s Word without compromise, and to pray fervently for those caught in deception. Let us remember that the transgender movement is diabolical, but transgender-identifying people are precious souls for whom Christ died.
May we speak boldly, pray earnestly, and love faithfully, so that many may be delivered from lies into the glorious truth of who they are in Jesus Christ.
