Demand VISA reject profits from sexual abuse
We are writing to express our deep concern and dismay with Visa’s decision to continue working with MindGeek despite ample evidence of their hand in the abuse and exploitation of countless men, women, and children on MindGeek-owned websites.
We request that Visa cut all ties with MindGeek entities. MindGeek, the owner of Pornhub and numerous other hardcore pornography websites, is profiting from sexual abuse and exploitation—and by partnering with this entity your corporation is enabling this abuse to continue and further lining the pockets of MindGeek executives.
Many entities have already made the necessary steps to remove their support of such a harmful company such as MindGeek. As a result of allegations from numerous survivors who have come forward about their sex trafficking or child sexual abuse being filmed and then uploaded and shared countless times on Pornhub and their other MindGeek websites, the Canadian government is conducting public hearings investigating MindGeek, and several U.S. Congressional representatives have called for the Department of Justice to investigate. Visa even cut ties with Pornhub, with Discover and MasterCard following suit, before rescinding your commitment to put people over profits with other MindGeek entities.
Visa remains one of the only major corporate entities continuing to support the infrastructure of the sexual exploitation industry – a decision that legitimizes the inherently racist, violent, and degrading nature of pornography and the abuse of countless men, women, and children.
We call on Visa to cut all ties with MindGeek and to stop funding sexual exploitation and abuse. This will greatly improve our experience as a consumer and signal your dedication to corporate responsibility.
