The Leftist Liberals Dont Believe in Freedom or Tolerance at All

The Leftist Liberals Dont Believe in Freedom or Tolerance at All

The leftist liberal agenda in our country is vividly on display and illustrates their extreme hypocrisy when it comes to that word "tolerance" and "freedom of speech".  As long as you agree with their viewpoint on certain issues, they leave us alone.  They will "tolerate" us.  As soon as we disagree with them, such as the homosexual agenda or sanctity of life, they become the "intolerant" and they will disrupt our freedom of assembly and free speech. Victoria Cobb of the Family Foundation here in Richmond, Va., experienced this as she spoke to a crowd outside their offices.   Read More

On the Sanctity of Marriage

On the Sanctity of Marriage

It is not for federal judges to redefine marriage for us. When they do, it is tantamount to cultural suicide, and we should not be surprised at the cultural and social degradation sure to follow.  William Bennett writes in his book The De-Valuing of Society, “Our common culture … embodies truths that most Americans can recognize and examine for themselves. These truths are passed down from generation to generation, transmitted in the family, in the classroom, and in our churches and synagogues.” But the truths of our culture and the traditional American family are now being attacked and demagogued like never before in our history in the name of “tolerance” and “rights.” Read More

What Is Marriage?

What Is Marriage?

Family FoundationI recently have become the owner of an iPad and have been enjoying an app called Zyte. Zyte is the Pandora of news – you tell it what interests you and Zyte populates a magazine of articles it thinks you might be interested in.  My newest Zyte interest is marriage.  I like following this issue – to learn what other states are doing to strengthen marriage, to glean wisdom from couples who have been together 50 or 60 years, and to understand the threats that are facing the institution of marriage today. I flipped to the marriage section of my app today expecting an uplifting read. Perhaps I was too optimistic. Protect Rights of Faith-Based Adoption Agencies

Protect Rights of Faith-Based Adoption Agencies

The VA Board of Social Services is being pressured to change regulations that, if approved, could force state-licensed adoption agencies to include the option of placing children out for adoption to homosexual couples.  The proposed change is up for public comment until Oct. 11.  Action Request: Please ask the Board to reject such a change that could force faith-based agencies and even birth parents to either abandon their principles or, in the case of the agencies, to close their doors.  Details follow. Christian Consultant Fired by Bank of America Over Gay Marriage Book

What is Next for Same-Sex Marriage Advocates?

What is Next for Same-Sex Marriage Advocates?

Proponents of same-sex marriage are quick to claim that all they want is “marriage equality.” Nothing more. They’ll be content if they can just have “equality.” But we all know that reality doesn’t end there. In recent weeks, same-sex advocates have finally begun to admit it themselves.  Published just days ago in a The New York Times piece, Stanford law professor Ralph Banks, asks, “What now of the two remaining criminal prohibitions of intimate relationships: incest and polygamy Even as same sex … relationships are accepted, Americans are now imprisoned for incest and polygamy … Over time, our moral assessments of these practices will shift … Should a state be permitted to imprison two cousins because they have sex or attempt to marry Should a man and two wives be permitted to live together as a family when they assert that their religious convictions lead them to do so” Read More

A Marshall Plan for Marriage: Rebuilding Our Shattered Homes

A Marshall Plan for Marriage: Rebuilding Our Shattered Homes

The Heritage Foundation Abstract: Marriage and family are declining in America, following a trend well established in Europe. This breakdown of the American family has dire implications for American society and the U.S. economy. Halting and reversing the sustained trends of nearly four decades will not happen by accident. The federal, state, and local governments need to eliminate marriage penalties created by the tax code and welfare programs and instead use existing resources to better encourage and support family life. The Cost to Taxpayers of Missing Fathers

The Cost to Taxpayers of Missing Fathers

With Father's Day coming up, we should ponder the sad plight of the 20 million American children who are growing up without their fathers in the home. In 1993 Charles Murray identified "illegitimacy as the single most important social problem of our time . . . because it drives everything else." Murray was whistling in the wind. Last year, the U.S. illegitimacy rate had grown to 41 percent, and among whites it was 29 percent. Read More
