Darwinians Have As Many Problems with Evolution As We Do

The case for Darwinian evolution is getting weaker by the day. And what’s sapping it of credibility is science itself.

For instance, Darwin didn’t know anything about genetics (Gregor Mendel was just getting started) and so his theory was predicated on hereditary nonsense. He just didn’t know it. Many people at the time believed the utter falsehood that acquired characteristics could be transmitted genetically to the next generation. But If I’m born a 95-pound weakling, and bulk up til I’m a supersized-Incredible Hulk, my children are still going to get the genes of a 95-pound weakling. Darwin didn’t know that. But we do, and it makes the classic theory of evolution just so much bilge.

Darwin also knew that the fossil record was a major problem for his view. But he was confident that with more archeological digging, more fossils would be found to substantiate his slow, tedious developmental view. But since Darwin’s time, we have accumulated 250,000 more fossils than we had then and yet we actually have fewer transitional forms today since some of the so-called “missing links” have been debunked by paleontologists.

In fact, Harvard’s Stephen Jay Gould, perhaps the leading paleontologist in the world at the time of his death, baldly admitted there are no such things as missing links or transitional forms. He called the knowledge of this tidbit the “trade secret of paleontology,” by which he meant, “all of us paleontologists know this but we’re all hoping you never find out.”

Gould and other Darwinians became fond of the theory of “punctuated equilibrium,” which means things went along in a condition of stasis for millennia with little if any evolutionary change. Then, this state of equilibrium was suddenly, unexpectedly, and inexplicably punctuated by brief and frenetic bursts of evolutionary development that happened so fast they left no trace in the fossil record or any place else.

One early proponent of the theory, a renowned evolutionist by the name of Richard Goldschmidt, actually proposed, as a serious scientific hypothesis, that one day a reptile laid an egg and when it hatched a bird flew out. I arf you not. He called it “the hopeful monster” theory. Yikes.

Think about that. The only “evidence” for the theory of “punctuated equilibrium” is the complete absence of any kind of evidence at all. And these are supposed to be the brightest bulbs on the tree!

The fossil record, in fact, is perfectly consistent with the biblical account of creation, because all increasingly complex life forms appear perfectly formed in the fossil record, just as if they had come from the creative hand of God.

And the biblical account is perfectly consistent with genetic science, which tells us that DNA means that bears give birth to bears and giraffes to giraffes. Each species reproduces “after its kind,” just exactly as the Bible has been saying for 3500 years.

Finally, Third Way Darwinians understand evolutionists have a massive problem with genetic mutations. Realize now that genetic mutations are the only hope evolutionists have for explaining the addition of new genetic material into the process. But the problem is that genetic mutations are almost invariably harmful if not fatal to the organism. They don’t make the organism more adaptable but less. When they occur in humans, we call them “birth defects.”

Say the Third Wayers, “The DNA record does not support the assertion that small random mutations are the main source of new and useful variations.”

The Third Way folks are heart-stricken that Intelligent Design proponents use their material in support of our view of origins. “It has come to our attention that THE THIRD WAY web site is wrongly being referenced by proponents of Intelligent Design and creationist ideas as support for their arguments.”

My response?  Tough darts.  If the information we get from you supports our view of origins, we are hardly going to drop it because it offends your delicate scientific sensibilities.

Bottom line: the theory of evolution is the greatest single scientific hoax of all time. That such a preposterous theory could survive as long as it has is a sign that the minds of man are irrationally and inexplicably hardened against the truth.

G.K. Chesterton was the first to articulate the profound truth about what happens to men who choose not to believe in God. While we might think the alternative to believing in God is believing in nothing, it’s not.

As Chesterton put it, when men cease to believe in God, it’s not they’ll believe in nothing but rather that they’ll believe in anything. Evolution is proof.
