Marriage Under Fire!
The Attack:
There is no question that Marriage is under attack today in the same way that Life itself was under fire in the years leading up to 1973 when the Supreme Court “legalized” abortion. That was 55 million abortions ago, 55 million unborn babies sacrificed on the altar of our self-absorbed obsessions and conveniences. It was and continues to be America’s Holocaust.
Those same godless forces that were at work then are at it again, this time bullying governments, businesses, courts, the media, schools, civic groups, and even churches and religious organizations to redefine marriage according to their own perverse pleasures.
It is America’s new War on the Family.
Our Response:
We must not allow them to succeed, or our children and our children’s children will be forced to live in a culture where, as in the day of Judges, “There was no God in Israel, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes.”
Therefore, please help spread the word and, if at all possible, sign up now for one, two, or all three of the events listed below — for our Faith, for our Families, and for our Freedom!
* * * *
1) Tuesday, May 13: A Rally for Marriage in Richmond
Please join hundreds and perhaps thousands of other pro-marriage voices at the Rally for Marriage in front of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals located at 1100 E. Main St. in Richmond beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending around noon. It is important for several reasons.
The Purpose:
First, it is to register our objection to Attorney General Mark Herring’s betrayal of his oath of office and his refusal to defend Virginia’s Constitution which clearly defines marriage as between only one man and one woman.
Second, it is to call for the Appeals Court to overturn District Court Judge Arenda Wright-Allen’s outrageous decision to declare Virginia’s marriage law to be “unconstitutional”.
The Speakers:
Featured speakers at the Rally will include Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage, Eric Teetsel from the Manhattan Declaration, Josh Duggar from the Family Research Council Action, Dean Nelson from the Frederick Douglass Foundation, Jeff Caruso from the Virginia Catholic Conference, and moderated by Family Foundation President Victoria Cobb.
The Bus:
To make it easier for you to get there, we have chartered a CrossTours bus that will leave at 5:30 a.m. from in front of Home Depot at Harrisonburg Crossing, at 6:00 from Walmart in Staunton, and at 6:45 from Holiday Inn just off the 5th St. Exit No. 120 in Charlottesville.
To help defray the cost, we are asking for $10/person payable when you board. To reserve your seat(s), please contact us by emailing to family@valleyfamilyforum.org or call (540) 438-8966.
2) Tuesday, May 27: The Forum’s “Celebration of Marriage” Dinner
This is also a reminder that tables and individual seats are still available for the Forum’s 13th annual “Salute to the Family” dinner from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the JMU Festival Conference and Student Center.
This year’s theme is “A Celebration of Marriage!” with keynote speaker Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage.
For Reservations:
Tickets are $25/person or $200 for a table of eight. To reserve your seat(s), please contact us by emailing to family@valleyfamilyforum.org or call (540) 438-8966.
3) Thursday, June 19: A Massive March for Marriage in DC
The National Organization for Marriage is also calling for a Marriage March on the Mall as a show of national support for marriage between only one man and one woman. Go to www.marriagemarch.org for details about the March.
The Bus:
The Forum is again chartering a bus from Harrisonburg with additional stops along the way, so please mark your calendar and reserve your seats as soon as possible please contact us by emailing to family@valleyfamilyforum.org or call (540) 438-8966. We will have more details available regarding departure times and pick-up locations as we get closer to the date of the March.
