“To give children a good education in manners, arts and science, is important;
to give them a religious education is indispensable
and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties.“

We will be discussing a practical strategy for churches to assist parents in equipping their children with a Biblical Worldview, thus rescuing them from the lies that pervade education today, and preparing them to lead in their own generation.

This Summit will address the following questions:

  1. What is a biblical worldview, and why is it essential to ensuring the future stability of our nation?
  2. What does the Bible say about parents’ role in the education of their children?
  3. How has American education changed since the the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown in 1607 (412 years)?
  4. Does education today result in a proper understanding of Nature, Government, Economics, Education, Sociology, and Religion ?
  5. Why is a biblical worldview so important to the preservation of Liberty, and how does it inoculate the civil society against Tyranny?
  6. How can pastors and Sunday school teachers inculcate a biblical worldview in the hearts and minds of church members?
  7. How has public education today contributed to moral and spiritual decay, and brought us to the brink of absolute despotism?

All attendees will receive:

  1. A worldview assessment in advance of the event;
  2. A Free subscription to a new publication, Political Correctness: A Deceptive and Dangerous Worldview.
  3. A copy of the book, Sons and Daughters Walking in the Truth, which explains what the Bible teaches concerning the education of children.
  4. A complimentary lunch!

This crucial summit is brought to you by the Virginia Watchmen Council, America’s Black Robe Regiment, The Foundation For American Christian Education (FACE), the Nehemiah Institute, the Virginia Christian Alliance (VCA), and Exodus Mandate. Please join us for a day of strategizing on how we can rescue our precious children and our nation, the land of Christian liberty.

We will be discussing a practical strategy for churches to assist parents in equipping their children with a Biblical Worldview, thus rescuing them from the lies that pervade education today, and preparing them to lead in their own generation.

Summit Speakers

Dan Smithwick

After serving honorably with the United States Air Force as a cryptologist and a successful career in upper-level management that included 20 years with AT&T, Dan Smithwick founded the Nehemiah Institute in 1986, a non-profit ministry providing Biblical worldview training and worldview assessment programs for use by Christian educators, students, families, churches, and media outlets. Through the Institute, Dan authored the PEERS Test, a worldview assessment designed to reveal an individual’s worldview on politics, economics, education, religion and social issues (PEERS). The PEERS Test and the Institute’s worldview training materials have received critical acclaim and support from high profile organizations such as Focus on the Family, the Christian Film & Television Commission, Answers in Genesis, the Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE), The Colson Center and the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). As president of Nehemiah Institute, Dan focuses on developing new products to reach a broader audience with the Institute’s Biblical worldview assessment programs and training materials, establishing positive relationships with members of the media, and assisting Christian educators and students with worldview training programs.

In 1997, Dan authored the groundbreaking study course, PILLARS and in 1998, he contributed to “The Media-Wise Family” with Dr. Ted Baehr, president of the Christian Film & Television Commission. As a recognized expert on worldview training and assessment, Dan has made many radio guest appearances, including Point of View, Issues in Education, Southwest Radio Church, and Reasons for Faith. In addition to his business career and ministry work, Dan has been an active voice in Christian education for over 30 years, serving as board member of several Christian schools, as well as teaching in a private school. Dan also serves on the Executive Council of the Coalition on Revival Ministries (COR), a ministry providing world-class theological studies for churches and Christian education institutions. He is also a member of the Steering Committee for COR’s sister organization, the International Church Council Project (www.churchcouncil.org). Dan’s newest work is a program entitled, “The Kingdom Seminar,” providing biblical worldview training to local churches. A sample seminar flyer can be seen at: http://www.basileians.com/kingdomseminar/. Further information on hosting this half-day seminar may be obtained by calling 800-948-3101. Dan and his wife of 48 years (deceased 2015), are parents of five children and grandparents of thirteen. Dan currently resides in Winter Garden, FL (Orlando area).

Dan’s presentation will focus on the basic meaning of worldview understanding with illustrations showing the dramatic worldview shift occurring in America over the past several decades. Using 30 years of assessment data from Nehemiah Institute’s PEERS Test, Dan will show significant variations in the views of Christian leaders, parents and young people from Christian homes. He will argue that the shift away from our Judaeo-Christian heritage was an education issue and show why the restoration of the biblical worldview must also be an education matter.

Dr. Max Lyons

Since 1979, Max Lyons has served as a teacher and administrator at three Christian schools. He has served as Principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and was the Head Administrator and CFO at StoneBridge School in Chesapeake, Virginia. His last school position was Director of Guidance at Atlantic Shores Christian School also in Chesapeake. Max has extensive experience is all aspects of Christian School management, including curriculum development, teacher professional development, recruiting and admissions, fundraising, business management, board development, and guidance and counseling. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Virginia Wesleyan College, a Masters in Christian School Administration from Regent University, and a Ph.D. in Christian Education from Whitefield Theological Seminary.

Max is Director of Teaching Services at FACE. He is a teacher, curriculum writer, blogger, and conference speaker, specializing in the Bible, History, Government, Law, Economics, and Biblical Worldview. He has taught a Biblical worldview adult Sunday school class for two decades. His publications include Celebrate Our Christian Holidays Like You Were There, Government Takes All…What’s Left for Me?, Sons and Daughters Walking in the Truth, How to Establish a Christian School to Restore the Republic, and The Seven Pillars of Liberty. Max and his wife Margie co-authored Thinking and Acting Like Jesus, an upper-elementary Bible curriculum, and Max co-authored the children’s book and Virginia history curriculum, Odyssey of Faith. He is co-author of several books published in Portuguese that are used by a network of Principle Approach schools in Brazil, and Government Takes All…What’s Left for Me? was recently published in Spanish.

Max and Margie attend Kempsville Presbyterian Church and have four children and seven grandchildren. Max will be addressing the topic: Liberty and Education, What’s the Connection?, demonstrating how classical biblical Christian education can (help) save America. He will show how external or practical liberty is dependent upon internal Liberty and demonstrate the connection between the worldview taught in schools and the preservation of Liberty. In America, 200 years of Biblical Christian education resulted in unprecedented religious, economic, educational, and civil Liberty. In the past several decades, however, education in America has transitioned from biblical to non-sectarian, to humanist, and more recently to Marxist/perverted/pagan, seriously eroding our liberties to the point that we are in danger of totalitarianism. We must restore Biblical Christian education in our nation if we hope to remain free.

Rev. Michael Hirsch

Rev. Michael Hirsch is Chairman of the Virginia Watchmen Council, and Family Research Council’s (FRC) “P-50” pastor, overseeing the FRC Watchmen Pastors initiative in Virginia. Michael was born, when his Father was 60 and his Mother 19! He became a ward of the state and was moved from South Bronx and placed in foster care. At the age of five he was kidnapped by his maternal grandmother and an Aunt who worked with her to raise Michael in the suburbs of Boston. In 1986 he was called to full time pastoral ministry and for 25 years he and his wife Susan have served the church family in four different locations in the greater Fredericksburg area. The church he pastored, Calvary Christian, is located at Confederate Ridge.

Over the years Michael has traveled to 18 countries as a missionary evangelist, and ministered in numerous crusades including four in Colombia, South America, and four in India where the one-night crowds in a single city swelled to over forty thousand; he has helped plant churches during thirteen missionary trips to countries of the former Soviet Union in Belorussia, Ukraine and Russia.

Rev. Bill Cook is Founder and CEO of the America’s Black Robe Regiment, a fellowship of patriotic clergy and Christian “Minutemen,” actively engaged in restoring the Foundations of Liberty in America, and the Pulpit’s legacy as Wellspring of the political ideology that ignited a Revolution to “secure the Blessings of Liberty.” Rev. While at DHS, he supported the Director and Science Adviser at the Science and Technology Directorate’s Explosives Division, and the Transportation Security Administration, pursuant to characterizing terrorists’ explosives of choice, and evaluating a variety of airport screening systems at the TSA Systems Integration Facility (TSIF). During the summer of 2012, he sensed God calling him to return to full-time ministry focused on recruiting and mobilizing fellow clergy and their churches in the battle to secure the “Blessings of Liberty” to this and future generations of Americans. He founded the Black Robe Regiment of Virginia in July 2012 as part growing national movement of clergy at the vanguard of efforts to restore America’s decidedly Christian heritage, and the Church’s vital leadership and influence at every level of government.
