What is the Black Robed Regiment?

What is the Black Robed Regiment?

A Brief History by David Barton  The Black Robed Regiment was the name that the British placed on the courageous and patriotic American clergy during the Founding Era (a backhanded reference to the black robes they wore). [1] Significantly, the British blamed the Black Regiment for American Independence, [2] and rightfully so, for modern historians have documented that: There is not a right asserted in the Declaration of Independence which had not been discussed by the New England clergy before 1763. The Cost of Discipleship

The Cost of Discipleship

CitizenLink | Two members of Congress buck the political status quo to do what is right....by Catherine O. Snow “Have I not commanded you Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”   ~ Joshua 1:9.  This powerful Old Testament verse relates to the Lord’s command and promise to Joshua and the children of Israel; however, it also speaks to many Christian men and women working in the nation’s capital. Tea Party icon Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., is just one example of a Christian opting to stand on principle — and his faith — and paying the price in doing so. Read More

America’s Religious Heritage

America’s Religious Heritage

As Demonstrated in Presidential Inaugurations Posted May 31, 2010 SOURCE: Wallbuiders Religious activities at presidential inaugurations have become the target of criticism in recent years, 1 with legal challenges being filed to halt activities as simple as inaugural prayers and the use of “so help me God” in the presidential oath. 2 These critics – evidently based on a deficient education – wrongly believe that the official governmental arena is to be aggressively secular and religion-free. The history of inaugurations provides some of the most authoritative proof of the fallacy of these modern arguments. Read More

America’s Judeo-Christian Heritage

America’s Judeo-Christian Heritage

Forbes (R-VA)May 6, 2009, 4:20 PM - 4:24 PMU.S. House of Representatives Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, on April 6th of this year, the President of the United States traveled halfway around the globe, and in the nation of Turkey, essentially proclaimed that the United States was not a Judeo-Christian nation. I don't challenge his right to do that or dispute the fact that it is what he believes, but I wish he had asked and answered two questions when he did that. The first question was whether or not we ever considered ourselves a Judeo-Christian nation, and the second one was, if we did, what was the moment in time where we ceased to be so If asked the first question, Mr. Speaker, you would find that the very first act of the first congress in the United States was to bring in a minister and have congress led in prayer, and afterwards read four chapters out of the bible.
